I Lost Myself On A Cool Damp Night...

I gave myself in that misty light
Was hypnotised by a strange delight
Under a lilac tree...

The theme for today's new Sugar Bowl challenge is "shades of lilac" along with a fabby sketch to follow.
The Sweeties have done what the Sweeties always do and made a gorgeous display of cards to give you a little inspiration.

Kiki's beautiful card uses one of my favourite and most inked stamps, Elise. Such lovely, delicate colours, for both the colouring of the image and the papers.

Our Sugar Mama Gayle inked up the delicious Delia for her gorgeous card, using a darker palette and my most favourite ever set of papers...it looks like Gayle, Pat, Maria and myself all used papers from this same range!
And Erika has expertly coloured the digital image Rebecca.
Talking of Erika....
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday dear Erika
Happy Birthday to you!

Yes, the lovely Erika celebrates today...hope you have a lovely, restful day filled with good times and cake :)

Happy Days

Good morning friends.  Today I'm sharing a card I made with the sweet, adorable

Isn't she a cutie?  She's from the Home Grown Sherbet Pips collection.  I love coloring these adorable Pips.  I used my copics and colored pencils to color her and added a bit of glitter paint to the flower centers in her hand and her hair.  I used a few flowers and pearls to finish my card.  You can find her and all the other gorgeous Pips over at Funky Kits

Thank you so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Anita

A fairy and her friend

Hello friends and happy tuesday!
It's me, Kathrin, here today to share another card with you.

For this card I used another one of the cute fairies. I just bought my very first ones a little ago and so each an everyone of them needs to be inked up. They are so darling and I know that there will be more fairies flying over to Germany soon. Not only are they so cute, they are also a lot of fun to color.
So, today I used Faye and Freddie.

Faye is really adorable - and I totally adore Freddie her little froggy friend!

Since I colored the mushroom red and white I had to make my papers match. And since Freddie had to be green I combined some green with the red and white as well. I am always having a really hard time using green and red together so the traditional christmas colors are really hard to use for me but on this card everything came together easily and I really like these shades of red and green together. Never thought that could happen! LOL

I've hidden a little tag in a pocket underneath the image where I stamped the sentiment on.
"You're a friend who makes good times great" - I thought it was perfect for Faye and Freddie.

I used a strawberry charm, some strawberry leaves, some bakers twine and two white flowers to finish my card.

Have a happy and sunny tuesday everyone!
Hugs,

SOS

Will the sun still be shining on Sunday, who can tell?

But this week has been sunny and I even spent some time on the beach.

But what I would really like is a little beach hut.
I have wanted one since the 1990's but there is only one village along our coast which has them and they are like hen's teeth, you're never going to get to the top of the waiting list, they have to be handed back into the pot and locals have priority before "out of town" families.

If I even win the lottery I am going to buy a strip of land and build a row of beach huts. Think of all the things you could do inside decoration wise. Everything in miniature and no need to cart it all home after a day at the beach. The kids could play on the sand while you sit back with a good book and lap up the sunshine.
Good old fashioned family fun, free fresh air, buckets and spade, sandy sandwiches and flasks of tea.

Reality is a bit different, the weather is the key to all perfect days by the beach.
And this week it is here along the Moray Coast and we had better enjoy it because in Scotland you can have all four weather seasons in one day! I ain't kidding you.

So I will dream of sunny days, picnics and beach huts while looking at all the pretty pictures on PINTEREST, some of those beaches are the stuff of dream but dreams are free and available to all.

Just before I go, I wonder how many of you read Creative Cardmaking?

Issue 42 landed in the house of sugar on Thursday and if sales are anything like the last time we had a feature in it, they will not last long.
Kate Mellis has quite the fan club in the North East.

It was a scorching week in Elgin and Kate was stuck at work,
normally good weather means few customers but this week we must
have had half the crafters in Aberdeenshire thru for a day out.

All those ladies went home well stocked up with goodies and happy in the knowledge that they will not have to travel so far to get the friendly service and innovative crafting ideas, as it Is make or break week with the lease on the new store. We have a back up plan so either way, the House of Sugar will be open this summer somewhere in Aberdeenshire.

And we will be able to show how to make beautiful cards with the sweetest rubber.

Like these two Leanne Ellis stamps, Poise and Day Dreamer which Kate has made into very classy cards for this magazine feature. I love the green paper pleats and the scalloped roof, playing with paper can be so much fun!

A fresh look in green and orange, stamp used was To and Fro

Now maybe I am bias but having read the mag, I can honestly say that Kate's cards do stand out.
We do work a lot with Creative Cardmaking and their sister companies.
Soon we will be working on Christmas features, yes in a heat wave we are colouring in snowmen!
(when I say we you know its not me right?)

I will leave you with that thought and I hope that you are having a great weekend, have you got anything to
SHARE ON SUNDAY?

Fifi goes shopping

Have you done some shopping yet? All the gorgeous “Country Cousins” stamps we have showed you the last week are now available at Funky Kits. And when you are there, why don`t you take a look at all the other wonderful Sugar Nellie Stamps as well. The image I have used for my card today is called “Fifi goes shopping”, and you can find her here.
I have made a girlie birthday card, and I have colored the image with Copics. I have rolled all the roses my selves from the same paper I used for the card. I have also made a fun way to close the card.

Here is a close up of the sweet image.

Here you can see the card open.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend.
Hugs from Marianne:)

Hoppity Hippity Hop.

I hope you have all enjoyed this weeks hops to showcase the soon-to-be-released new stamps.
Our fabulous DT have made the most beautiful cards and tags and I am always amazed at how different one little stamp can look depending on the colours, papers and the personal style of the designer.

SOS share on Sunday

What do I have to share with you this Sunday.

The sun is shining here in Scotland, wooopiiiee do. Does this mean that summer has arrived?

This week I was again sought at the local sales room, where they sell everything and anything. I was on the
look out for some nice pieces of furniture that could be painted and used as display pieces in the stores.

I see all these wonderful make overs on pinterest and think "that looks easy" when in reality it ain't.
So I am now of the age that if I can not do it myself , I get some one who can. There is a lady locally that
is doing the "Annie Sloan" paint thing so I might end up going to her, even a class would do.

I had 5 items on my list but only won 2.
A very large heavy wooden table that might become my
kitchen table or maybe a class table because it is big.
And a small ladies desk with lots of cubby holes, a writing table and a few drawers.
This I want to paint, I am going to make it into my Tim Holtz display table.

I had someone ask how to find my pintrest boards, well the way I see it , I don't have to pin much. I leave it
to some girls I know to spend days on there picking the best ideas and pinning then to their boards. SO I just follow them and safe a lot of time. It's amazing that sometimes its the same work they pin, especially Stampin Up cards, those are real popular.

So for those who need to know, here I am on PINTEREST.

Finally I see we have 2000 followers, thank you all so much for your interest and support in our wee
Scottish stamp company.

Therefor we have a few treats in store next week, stay turned. I just have to check everything with Gayle and Mark before I start handing out candy.

Karen

if you leave a comment with your link I can add you too.
Share with us this Sunday what interests you over on
pinterest.

Just remember to use a Sugar Nellie stamp and then you can show us anything you want to,

This sweetie is not in stock at the moment but you can find so many of her friends here
at Funky Kits, The paper I have used is from MME's Blush paper pad and she is coloured with Copic.

In Olden Days, A Glimpse Of Stocking...

...Was looked on as something shocking
But now, God knows,
Anything goes.

Nothing gets my toes tapping like a bit of Cole Porter in the morning...and now I'll be singing it all day too unless I take pity on the rest of my work mates :)

The theme for the new Sugar Bowl challenge is 'Anything Goes'. How's that for easy peasy? You choose what to make and what image to use, as long as it's a Sugar Nellie image.

I am always in awe of Lilian's amazing colouring skills, and how her talents bring the stamped images to life...this one is no exception. I need to check out Lilian's blog to see how she made this beautiful little scene for Lolitta.

Pat has chosen a much older image from the Home Grown Soft Centres range...Custard the contented cow chomping away on her flowers. I love these colours, blues and browns are a colour combo I come back to time and time again...love them!

It's very rare that I show a card made by Sweetie Elaine here, cos that's me :) But I love these stamps so much and I want to do my Oliver Twist audition for the boss...Please Karen...can I have some more??
I never tire of colouring these gorgeous fairies, I love them all (but still need more Karen!)

I hope you will find the time to join in with our challenge, there's plenty of inspiration to be found over on the
Sugar Bowl from all the Sweeties.

Next week is going to be an exciting one here...the wonderful and talented DT will be showcasing some new rubber!! The previews will start here on Monday, with the new stamps being available to buy from Friday 25th....mark your diaries!!

Thanks for looking

Bad Hare Day

Good morning sweet friends.  Anita here today to share a card I made using one of my favorite Simply Sassy girls ...

I love her gorgeous face and the adorable outfit she's wearing.  I colored her with my copics and colored pencils.  I found this Fancy Pants paper recently in my LSS and loved the bright, summery colors.  I thought she would be perfect in these pretty colors too.  I added a leafy flourish and some daises, and a bow made with some seam binding.  You can find this sweetie over at Funky Kits.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Anita

A mother's day card with Nathan

Hello dear Sugar Nellie Fans!

I hope all the moms among you had a wonderful mother's day on sunday and you were all spoiled as you deserve it!
I know mother's day is celebrated on different dates all over the world but since it was mother's day this sunday here in Germany - and in the US also - I just have to share a mother's day card with you.

I used NATHAN for this one. It's the first mother's day card I made using a boy's image but I really love it.

I often get mails or comments about my coloring skills but honestly, this time this honor has to go to the image itself. Those beautiful Simply Adorable images are so wonderful in the way they are drawn. They show exactly where the darkest areas of the image have to be, how to color the pleats in clothes... I only used a very small amount of Copics to color that image and just followed the guideline the drawing gives you. I used a dark tone for the darkest areas that have kind of black lines in the drawing, a middle tone for the light grey areas and a very light tone for the white areas. It's really as easy as 1-2-3!

I wasn't sure if the papers weren't too girl-ish but when I put the card together I thought it was perfect for mother's day. I used some craft cardstock to mat the papers and also had to use some Crackle Paint on the paper edges, combined with some distressing that I most times only use for men's cards.

I am wishing all of you a wonderful sunny and spring-ish day!

Hugs,

.....and a wee sorry from me.

SOS did not post yesterday, my week was crazy and I usually schedule my post from the computer at work but this week my brain was in fifth gear and I missed that turn off.
It was well into Sunday before I remembered and I was at home.

To the girls that have been joining in with me, I will be back next week.

I am sure that this week will just be as crazy, no in store demo but hopefully keys to the new store and two van loads of stock/fittings and furniture to come from various places around Scotland.

There might even be a new delivery of rubber.

I think also reaching 2000 followers would be worthy of a wee celebration on the sweet kind.

don't go away, there are things happening that you don't want to miss
take care
Karen
