SOS - Men in Kilts

I hope your weekend has been as good as mine!

I had the hard job and a lot of fun this week putting the pop up shop together, yes it literally popped up over night and opened the next day.

Today the town of Forres played host to the Pipe Band European Championship's and the town was awash with men and women in kilts, all shapes sizes and ages , all looking splendid in their kilts. Over 3000 participants in the competition today in Grant Park. We had a good few visitors to the town into the shop and I must shout out to the ladies from Ireland who where accompanying their husbands who were stewarding at the competition. I love the Irish twang, especially in Gerard Butler, but today he was a no show!

Here is the Facebook page for the pop up shop at NO 44 high street Forres.
And here is my favourite picture of the store window with the adorable Amugurmi Characters which made their debut at our opening. One of which is heading back to Ireland!

Much excitement on the farm this week with the arrival of a new pup,
at 11 weeks old, FIN is still very much a lost pup, making all those wining noises and little barks.
The kids are tickled with their new pet  farm collie.

OH and I entered the world of iphones, still cant send a text but will at least be contactable when there is an emergency, like running out of milk, you know how it is. Just have to remember to keep it charged and attached to my chest just in case it rings.

Enjoy your Sunday and the week that follows.
{watch out for a new post on Thursdays}
Take care

Saturday Shenanigans

Happy Saturday Everyone!

The weather here, in my little part of Scotland,  is a little dreich!

Which is almost entirely predictable as, in this part of the world, school closed yesterday and summer holidays have begun….

So in true, last minute Annie style, I have spent my week consumed with making thank you cards for teachers!

We are fortunate here in Sugar Land to have lots of sweet stamps to choose from….

So, if you too are a ‘last minute Annie’ who needs to get these made within the next couple of weeks, I have some suggestions for you all…

Or, to heck with it, let’s get ahead with those ‘back to school’ cards!

Although, in my world, that’s never going to happen! lol

Pat   has used one of my personal favourites Winking student

Whilst  Anita  has used the stamp I used this year….  Skool Days

Julia  has given us a ‘double whammy’ with both High School Student  and  I Love To Read
Or, how about a little gift for teacher too?
Jane has made a bookmark using  High School Student which is just perfect!

So whether you’re a ‘last minute Annie’ or ‘super organised’

(I used to be the latter of the two but, seem to now be the former)

You’re sure to find something sweet over at Funky Kits.

Will you perhaps, make a card and join us in our challenges over on Facebook and in The Sugar Bowl?

There are some super sweet sugary prizes to be won!

Enjoy your weekend!

Live Laugh Love

Good morning everyone.  Anita here today with a new project to share with all of you.  I am so in love with all the new Fairy Glen fairies and so I decided to use this sweet Live Laugh Love for my card today.

I colored her with copics and colored pencils and then sprinkled some Glamour Dust on her wings.  I added some pretty little flourishes and flowers with pearls.  You can find this sweet fairy and the rest of the collection over at Funky Kits.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful day!

Hugs, Anita

A Feast Of Fairies!

There's not a cloud in the sky, the sun is shining and it's time for a new Sugar Bowl challenge...what a fantastic start to the day, does it get any better?

The challenge runs for a full 4 weeks and the theme is "Anything Goes", now how nice and easy is that...BUT you must use a Sugar Nellie image, either a rubber stamp or digital image.

The sweeties have done what they always do best and created a gorgeous display of cards for your inspiration.

Jennifer has used  No Shell Like Home, one of the new fairies, for her gorgeous card.
I LOVE this colour combo!!

And Pami has also used a new fairy, the ever so sweet (and already sold out!) A Little Bit Of Gossip.
This card is just so darn pretty!

But there are other fairies too, not just new fairies!
My personal favourite - just in case you've been living under a rock and haven't heard me singing her praises - is Pippi Longsocks and I luvs her a lot!

A decorated pen holder from Christine and it's even more beautiful and sparkly in real life - and I know that cos it's sitting on my craft desk...thank you so much sweetie ♥

You can see all the Sweeties cards over on the Sugar Bowl.

Thanks for looking

SOS - Congratulations

Hello and welcome to my weekly post. I have had a great week, how about you?

I know its been made a little sweeter yesterday for the girls who won candy from the Return To Fairy Glen blog hop last weekend. As I expect those stamps are near sold out by now, single figures last time I looked, you will still get your sugar fix as we always put a couple to the side for giving away at a launch. Well done to you all, remember to get your details into Gayle or you will lose out.

Congratulations too Elaine Livesey today, as she celebrates her birthday, life is one big party for Elaine lately! There have been many family celebrations in the past few weeks and now its her turn to be the centre of attention.

Many of you know Elaine.
With a heart of gold, she often spoils others with no cause or reason, just because.
This very past week I received a parcel with those adorable crochet mice from Tabby Crafts that were feature on this very blog by Gayle a month or so ago.

To say there are like hen's teeth and so hard to get, would be an understatement! But Elaine was lucky enough to be on the order list and what did she do when her order arrived? She gave them away! Always giving, be it her time, opinion, support or candy, Elaine Livesey is one the thee most kind hearted women you will ever have the pleasure of getting to know.

Happy Birthday my Darling,
I hope today and evey day brings you
the love and happiness you deserve.
(now that's enough sappiness from me)

**********

I took a few days off this week and went to the Royal Highland Show, its been two years since I last visited with my soon to be son in law. But back we went with the two youngest, still living at home, kids. It was hot, as I don't leave the HOS much and never sit in the sun anymore, it was a nice change to be kisses by the Scottish sunshine for the first time in years.

A little celebraty spotting, catching up with many friends and a good time all round.

I headed straight to the craft tent where this year it was the animal art that took my fancy. I even dragged hubby back last thing to see some original art that I many have thought about buying for our anniversary next week, but he did not like it.

Saying that I am sure that there are lots of things I am going to love and want this week when I set up the pop up shop in Forres. 15 big boxes of East of India landed in the HOS just as I was leaving, I did not even get to peek!  I LOVE EOI. So maybe its a good thing I still have some pennies left over.

Gisele Graham delivery will be with us sometime this week or next, so it's like Christmas early at work. I am sure that Kate is having lots of fun when deliveries arrive, but she will be stressing out over the mess! Boxes everywhere but not for much longer.

Craft wise, there is a lot of stock ordered many months ago that we are still waiting for, so much so that I dare not order anymore until I see what is already on its way. There is a demonstration on the 6th July in ELGIN, with a surprise new face to our store.

So this week will see me running around like that head less chicken/hen/old boiler ......again.  I need to rent a big white van and move stock and furniture around the towns. Have had no luck getting Annie Sloan paints, as I would not commit to having a trained full time assistant just for the paints! One in each venue no less!

So onwards and up words, keep calm and all shall work out fine.
Take care and enjoy your weekend.

Karen

Golden Nectar

Morning everyone, Lisa here with my little creation for this week... I just had to use one of the gorgeous new fairies - love them all!

This little lovely is called Golden Nectar and she's available from Funky Kits here.

Eye Candy ♥

Good Morning Sugar Addicts :)

I know you loved the blog hop last weekend and the new release of some long awaited rubber.
I've read the comments left both here and on our Facebook group, and I also know a lot of our Sugar Lovers have experienced the joy of the 'plop' of their new rubber landing on the doormat.

Ahhhhh the sweet smell of rubber...OK so maybe it doesn't smell so sweet! It certainly has a distinctive smell but I always find it so comforting to open the package, get a whiff of rubber and know that some new  stamps are ready and waiting to be inked up and coloured.

Naturally, I had to have them all...I do luvs me some fairies!
And now I am eagerly waiting to see what our lovely and loyal crafters will make with them. I will be keeping an eye out in blogland and Facebook for all your gorgeous creations.

This week I think we need a new badge! The Speedy Gonzalez award goes to...

Sheesh girly! That was some quick crafting!

A perfect card made with the stamp A Little Bit Of Gossip.

Please take our Eye Candy badge Susie (and if we had a Speedy Gonzalez badge then I'd award you that one too!)

Thanks for looking

Fairy Glen - No Shell like home

Hello Everyone! Jane here today and I am sharing a card made using one of the adorable new Fairies which were released this weekend at Funky Kits. The image I have used is called 'No Shell like home' and is available here. I coloured my image in with Promarkers and Graph'it pens and die cut her into a rectangle leaving the tips of her wings 'out of the box'

I inked lightly around the edges of the image when it was still in the die and stamped a little Hero Arts sentiment in the top right hand corner. The papers I have used are from an old Bobunny pad and I found a ribbon in my stash which coordinated with them perfectly and I topped this with a matching resin heart. I added lots of flowers from my stash and a button and finished with some stick on pearls and gems.

Here is a close up of the adorable Fairy. I added tons of glitter to her wings to make them sparkle! I think she is so adorable! I haven't been able to pick a favourite so far from the new releases and I can't wait to colour them all in! I hope you have a lovely Wednesday!

Artistic Goddess...

Happy Monday, my sweets!! Pat Frank here...and I have a new Sugar Nellie DT project to share with you! But first, I have to ask...did you get a chance to "Blog Hop" with us this past Saturday? I think you'll agree that the new "Return to Fairy Glen" stamps are utterly delicious!! I am soooooo looking forward to the arrival of my package! (The poor little postman will be seriously "stalked" until they arrive! hehe!)

Okey dokey...on to my newest Sugar Nellie creation! This card is for a very good friend of mine who is an amazingly talented artist!! She has just been accepted into a rather prestigious art program in Pennsylvania! I am just so proud and excited...and a wee bit jealous of her!  So I decided I'd make a "Congrats" card for her! Well...what'cha think?

I've always loved this fun Sugar Nellie "Simply Sassy" stamp!! In fact, she was my very first Simply Sassy stamp!! Those glasses on the edge of her nose...and that hair!! What's not to love, right? She's called "Artistic Goddess" (appropriately so!) and she's available HERE at Funky Kits.

Once again, I colored this image with Copic Sketch markers...then deepened the shading a bit with colored pencils! Here's another angle...

I hope you've enjoyed my latest Sugar Nellie project!! And I hope it makes my friend smile all over her face! If you'd like more info on this card plus a look at a few more pics, please visit my blog HERE!!

Have a beautiful weeks!! Hugs...until next time.

SOS - Beautiful

Can you believe what beautiful weather we have been getting here in the NE Scotland?
I hope that where ever in the world you are that the sun is shining down on you this Sunday.

Generally crafters disappear when the sun comes out, especially here in Scotland. We see it so seldom that it is a waste to sit inside and craft, for there are endless dull wet and windy days for crafting. Not only are the shops quieter when the suns out but generally, the summer months are the quietest.
The lull before the storm as they say, because when the schools go back late August, its Christmas time!
Sept and Oct being the busiest months of our crafting year, we take the quiet summer to plan classes, demos and new stamp releases.

Yes I already have Christmas stamps waiting in the wings!

But this week has been all about the RETURN TO FAIRY GLEN.
I hope you all enjoyed the blog hop,. our DT are amazing. Thank you girls for your hard work and awesome cards, I cant express how much it means to this wee stamp company to have your support.

To all our loyal sugar addicts, you were so in need of a good sugar fix LOL you waited a long time for those but I can tell you love them.

Remember that the full release is only available at the special price until the end of the day. We are down to single figures with these sets(as of 10.20am), no kidding, once the kits are done it single stamps only on Funkykits.

This weeks see's more painting for the pop up shop, some stock has been delivered but our BIG order from East Of India will arrive next week. Lucky for us the class room at Papercrafts will give us the space to open and drool over this range before pricing and packing up for the new shop and Oldmeldrum.

Our week at work was soured by a shop lifter, a fact of life that all retail business suffer from. I was amazed at the amount of stock she had pinched, how many times a week is that walking out our door? I hate to think but for once we caught her bonny.

" Dorothy from Munlochy above Inverness, I believe you are now banned from every crafts shop within driving distance of your home. And it ain't so easy to steel when you only have mail order as a source of supplies!"

I cant let one bad apple spoil everything, for I am very lucky to know and have the support of some lovely crafters who have been with me for a long long time. You know who you are, my thanks always because as a one woman show, mostly, this would not have lasted so long without the backing of lovely people.

Times are tough and I have to have positive feedback in order to fuel my desire to continue, without that I would move on. I need the luv, I know it sounds sappy but if you don't want it , why bother. That day will come. Nothing lasts for ever but for as long as you love what I bring you, I am happy to work harder, find cuter and share the sugar with you all.

take care and have a great day

Karen

                                            SOS - A new project!

Hello my lovelies, it has been a great week here in Scotland, what a difference good weather makes to everything.

While I am not one to sit in the sun and toast, I do see it bring out happier people and its infectious.

While the weather has been brilliant, my mind has been on overdrive.

A few years back I struggled with the work load until I mastered the art of delegation. Now I have it so
fine turned that I thought about spending the summer in USA with Debbie and Tom.
After my trip over at Easter and the realisation that sitting at home with they are at work is not a holiday together and we may just have to settle for family vacations together, everyone in holiday mode at once.

Now it leaves me with the summer off, almost.

There has been a desire to get back to my roots for the past few years, joining groups who were going to promote local crafts via a variety of sales venues but they all fail, to many chiefs and not enough Indians as the saying goes. Talk a lot but get nothing done or just to many self centred individuals looking after number one.

I want to be involved with making crafts again, along side like minded crafters who need a little guidance
in selling. There are many creative people who are very good at what they love but no place for them to sell their goods.

Local craft fairs are hard to crack, there are not enough respect for the amount of work put in and customers willing to spend on quality work. I love the buzz involved but for just a few hours its a bit too much.

So this summer I am taking on the project of putting together a POP UP SHOP.

I am hoping that this short term fix with fuel my love of crafting again, as sitting doing paperwork in the office is killing my mojo. I am going back to my roots, this is what I did all those years ago before someone asked me to teach them how to make the cards I sold. 10 years later I am stuck in the office and hate it!

With a little over 2 weeks before we open the POP UP SHOP, I have a lot to do. I have spent an evening at the local furniture sales room and purchased several pieces for use in the shop that can be re used at the end of the event. I have opened accounts with several gift suppliers to top up the hand made items.

I have a customer who brought to me the most adorable Amigurumi original mice and rabbits. OMG these are such an amount of work but totally worth it. I don't think we can get enough of these for the opening. She is delighted at the opportunity to work along side me on this project.

We will be working with Max from A Makers Tale, workshops in re painting furniture with Annie Sloan paints. Today I am painting a few empty frames for the window and a sandwich board for the pavement.

I have a carpenter who want to make whatever I think with fit in,  now where do I start?

I just have so much ideas in my head of what I would like to see in there, its hard to explain to none crafting folks but I round it up by saying .........

............Kirsty Allsop would love this Pop Up Shop.

This will keep me happy for the summer, let's hope I have not taken on more than I am capable of. But my buzz is back, wish me luck. ( find it over on FB  No 44 but its so new there are no followers yet only some photos)

                                            {PS. I am still on the look out for the right jewelery maker, sewing machine queen, knitter and anyone else locally who makes a quality product worthy of a place in our window.}

I purchased a vintage type writer this week, Tim Holtz would love it but I am sure he already has several.

It will go in the shop window today with a print out of the shop opening with details of our mission. I hope for a few crafters to come out of the wood work and pitch in.

                                            ********

On an other note I have a couple come to Papercrafts for a day out craft shopping all the way from Fort William.

On finishing up their shopping I was presented with a project............I've seen one before like this!.

I had already asked them if they had been in the shop before and they had not.
I do have a good memory for people but sometimes I get them mixxed up, but now my instinct was right.
Turns out that Andrea had visited our stall at the Glasgow SECC one year and had give us a similar calender book with each page dedicated to a sugar nellie stamp. It warms my heart that someone loves our stamps, and to make something that takes so much time and timidly give it to us without much fanfare, it just soooooo lovely. It shows that Andrea is a lovely crafter who thinks of others without the need for recognition or glory when she quietly slides her gift over the counter to you.
                                            visit Andrea here  www.craftyingandy.blogspot.co.uk

Better go get painting then, hope you have a great day with a little golden time in there somewhere

I think he's fab and I loved colouring him... he really didn't seem to need much 'stuff' adding, so I didn't!

Thanks for popping in, hope you all have a lovely day :o)

                                            Eye Candy ♥

Good Morning...and what a very good morning it is! The sky is blue, the sun is shining and that makes for a very pleasant morning, despite the fact that I'll spend all day cooped up in an office :(

Have you entered the Sugar Bowl challenge yet?
One winner chosen at random will win their choice of any 4 Sugar Nellie stamps. I tell you this because there is a new release due out very soon, and believe me when I say...

But you could possibly win 4 of them just by entering the challenge.

And now I've teased you all...
This weeks Eye Candy badge goes to...

This gorgeous card using the image Let Them Eat Cake is - in my opinion - perfect.
I love the colours, the layout, the embellies, and of course the image, that goes without saying.

Please take our badge Lorraine :)

                                            Now back to those fairies...
I've been begging Karen for some more of these fairies...waiting...waiting...waiting...
I'm not so good when it comes to being patient so I think I'm left with only 1 option now.
                                            1) Buy a train ticket up to Scotland and go and poke Karen with a cattle prod until we get more fairies.
                                            Think it'll work??

                                            Thanks for looking.
                                            Love Elaine xx
