Happy Birthday Elisabeth

Elisabeth is our newest illustrator, soon you shall see both of the ranges that Elisabeth has drawn exclusively for us. With 15 years experience as a professional illustrator we are delighted that she has joined the Sugar Nellie team all the way from USA. Here is a little sneaky peek just to tease you, a sketch that has been turned into a stamp and the range will be available in May.

Splashing Maggie

This is one of my fav stamps from the new Maggie range. Great for just fun cards or for anyone who is feeling a bit under the weather. So all at Sugar Nellie send a online greeting to Diane from Dundee who is feeling under the weather and we hope you feel better soon Diane.
This card was made by Linda and its a fantastic colour combo, very pretty and very well coloured in . Thank you Linda for allowing us to show your creation.

What's that smell!

It is a bit smelly in the warehouse today, it might be Maggie but more than likely its Hamish (mothers of boys will understand). A lot or rubber and a lot of cutting up and packaging to be done. BUT Funkykits have a delivery tomorrow morning and I expect they will be packed and in the post before bedtime Friday.

Sugar Nellie will be sending Kim and Caz some rubber today as a thank you for their magazine features using these adorable cute stamps. Thank you girls:)

Move over Maggie

We are fighting our way through the rubber mountain, the new range of Maggies and Hamish are on their way. These should be available by the end of the week. I am loving the summer ones that Linda has done, rock pool fun and splash both fit in with the British weather! Big sister and big brother, Angus ( you love him), birthday party Maggie and Hamish, Rugby, chef,ballet, dancing Maggie............did I miss any?

Funkykits Challenge Sketch

Here we have three different sketches for you to try using your kit, try it with other stamps too. No hurry as some Sugar Nellie fans have yet to recieve their post as we sent many overseas.
Keep it as simple as you want, take it up a step and sew, ink and embellish all you want, its your card. Be sure as to show off your take on these cards.

The first sketch is from Funkykits DT member Tracy Dowie.

Tracy has chosen to make a Z-fold-Card using the lovely Heidi Grace Papers.

To make a base she trimmed a piece of card stock to 4" x 12" - fold in half, then fold the front panel back on itself. This way your card will fit into a standard 4x6 envelope :)

This design gives you lots of panels to decorate and by adding embellishments to the right side you can tuck the flap under to close the card flat.

With an eye for tiny detail this card has been embellished

and edges inked to add to a simple sketch layout.

Last but not least Karen's sketch.

Keep it simple, a square card with an aperture punched in the corner, stamped inside and coloured with prisma pencils and a wee bit of bling on the flowers. One strip of paper across the top, punched flower and hand cut greenery (any die cut swirls would do). "Shaky" fake stitching another option. No measuring, all by eye, have fun!

product testing

I was asked to test out a DO crafts product via http://scrapgenie.blogspot.com/2008/03/100-blog-road-testers.html

I was disappointed to be sent a 3L Scrapbook Adhesive EZ Runner, because I know all the yummy new product that they are stocking and I expected something more exciting like Basic Grey or Doodlebug. But no a glue runner!

And not just any glue runner, the exact same glue runner I use every day and have done for several year. This in itself should tell you what I think of it, and the old saying "Buy cheap Buy dear" comes to mind, there are loads of glue/tape runners on the market from under a £1, but would you buy them twice, no, its not a great deal if it does not work and goes straight in the bin ( remember those glue stick from Tesco 10 for £1!)

We were given a list of questions to answer ....

1. How often do you use adhesive? Every time I craft.
2. What is the main type of adhesive you use? Double sided tape, glue stick , 3d foam and glue/tape runner

3. What do you look for in an adhesive? Stickyness, clean and easy to use.
4. How easy is the product to remove from its packaging? Very

5. Does the product appeal to you - ie does it look good? Yes

6. How easy is the product to use? Simple
7. How well does the product perform? As it should, perfect.

8. Do you like this product? Yes
9. Do you consider it good value for money? It is an expensive runner, but you get what you pay for

10. Would you consider buying this product in the future? Yes

11. What would make you more likely to buy this product in the future? Better price point and REFILLS

12. What would make you less likely to buy this product in the future? Price.
