Keep warm!

Hello dear Sugar Nellie friends!

This is Kathrin here and I am totally excited since this is my very first post here at the Sugar Nellie blog.

Well, I know we here in Germany are not the only ones freezing and no matter how much I would have loved to make a spring-ish card - cold, cold, cold is all I can think at the moment.

So I went with

Knitted With Love

for my card today. She's dressed so warm and it looks so cozy and like no cold could reach her... Perfect!

I used Copics to color her in and went with a warm brown, snowy white and a fresh green to add at least a spring-ish color...

Her wings are colored with Stickles.

In between the designer papers I added a big snowflake cut from an icy-blue glitter paper. It was cut using my Cricut. 

I also added some rhinestones that look like frozen waterdrops. 

The edges of the papers were covered with some white Distress Ink Crackle Paint.

So I am wishing all of you a wonderful day and hope everyone that has to go out in the cold has a safe trip!

MISSING YOU......

Morning all......!

Hope you are all well on this chilly day...and did you get any snow?? We had loads here in Essex...lets hope that Spring will arrive soon...and we get some lovely, warm sunshine :o)

Well it's Vicky here today...and I have used one of my Sassy girls to showcase...and isn't she lovely..! I have teamed her up with some Nitwits, some die cut nestie shapes and plenty of sparkle too...

And here she is...

 Missing You ~ Simply Sassy

I have used some gorgeous Nitwits...I have matted the papers on some core'dinations card stock...and then cut out the nestie shapes using the same coloured card..

 I have coloured her with Spectrum Noirs, a little chalk for her cheeks and Prisma Pencils for shading...

and a side view...

The pinwheel flowers are made from a Memory Box die...and I use a quilling tool to curl the flowers and some pinflair glue to fix them in place....and finished off with some hearts from a Martha Stewart punch and the sentiment is computer generated by me.....

Today I want to showcase some cards from  DT girlies.  I do think we have the best DT in blogland :)

Country Style

Hi there, it is me ( Marianne) that have something to show you today.

It is no secret that I love all the new Sugar Nellie stamps, but today I want to show you one of my old favorites. This gorgeous image is called "Country style", and you can find it here at Funky Kits.

This time I have used my Prisma Colors on grey Smooth Bazzill. I just love this way of coloring, and that it doesn`t always have to be white or craft cardstock.

Different folding cards are very popular, and I am a big fan of folding techniques, but today I have made a card without any folds at all. I have used Spellbinder dies in three sizes, decorated each part, and used a brad to put it all together. This was a very easy and fun way to make a card that looks a little special, why don`t you give it a try? All the papers I have used are from Maja Design, and the big white swirls is a die from Cherry Lynn.

Winking Student...

Ooh can you even imagine that it is already februari !! My gosh, time flies!!
My turn again to show you something, and yesss I am too a big fan of the Simply Sassy's... this is Winking Student

and I've made a book corner of it... Nature colors and not much extra on it... I've colored her with copics, and it wasn't easy to color here in only brown colors...
I've tried to make a little tutorial of it so you can try and make a book corner yourself...


Take a piece of cardstock 14 cm x 14 cm.
Fold it at 7 cm as on the picture above. Punch a border at the bottom.


Cut a piece of design paper and glue this as on the picture below.


This is the back side... turn it over and scrap the front as you like it!
I've tried to explain it in my best english and hopefully you understand it!

Thinking Outside The Box.

It's always a delight to visit the Sugar Bowl and view all the beautiful entries into the challenge. As you know, there is a sketch to follow and a theme, but the theme is purely optional.

Paper piecing must be a popular technique as it was embraced by so many of the entrants.

This card is from Rosie and it uses another of my personal favourite stamps Elise (she must be a popular girl as she's all sold out at the moment). Fabulous paper piecing and I love these colours.

A very pretty and pink card from Renata using the Sassy stamp So What. The paper piecing really ties the whole card together and the sentiment is perfect!

Now Coops is a regular player in the Sugar Bowl and I have shown her cards here before.
But this card really made me ooo and arrr, and then giggle and then get cross because I wish I'd thought of it!
It follows the sketch, it follows the theme and it's a very clever use of both Cinders and Cinderella and I think it's fabulous! It also shows how versatile stamping is, in this case just by using part of the Cinderella stamp. You are limited only by your own imagination.
This is thinking 'outside the box' at its very best.

And they lived Happily Ever After...

Good Morning Sugar Addicts! Love is definitely in the air in Crafty Blogland now as it is the 1st of February and Valentine's day is only a couple of weeks away. I love making Valentine's Day cards and always end up with a basket full of soppy cards so I thought I would stay with the Love theme this week and make a Wedding card using one of my Favourite Sugar Nellie images. This adorable couple image is called 'Happily Ever After' and it is available here from Funky Kits. It really is such a perfect Wedding Day stamp!

I made a card using some gorgeous Fancy Pants Designs papers. I love the flowery paper and it looks lovely against the plain aqua cardstock. I added some stitching around the edges of my layers and die cut some circles to create a topper for my cute couple to sit on. I wrapped some velvet ric rac and some aqua satin ribbon around the layers before adding them to my card.

I stamped the image onto bright white card and then coloured it in with various shade of brown and aqua Promarkers adding some pearls to the Bride's headdress. I added lots of lovely flowers and a stamped sentiment which was mounted onto a scalloped die cut circle. The bow tied from vintage seam binding is hiding a tear where I changed my mind about the placing of the flowers! I also added some tiny pearls, buttons and a small pearl pin as a finishing touch.
