Sugar Addicts Showcase Sunday.

Good morning Sugar Addicts. As it's a Sunday I'm sure by now you will all know what I'm going to say?
The lovely lady who's in the spotlight today is the very talented Fiona and in her own words:

Well here's a wee bit about me...You know my name is Fiona but my friends called me Fi.  I am 40...ahem years old. I am married and have 2 kiddos, one blue and one pink.  Michael is 19 years old and Holly is 13 years old.  I work in an HR department of a very, very large company..if you look up to the stars what do you see??  I have worked there for 11 years and I do really enjoy it but I also love when I am on holiday from work cos I do work very hard...I like to give 110%!!  Previously in an earlier life...I used to be a gymnast/trampolinist...you may have seen my Facebook photo?? I also used to be super fit as I only stopped gymnastics when I became pregnant with Michael although I did continue to coach trampolining.  I had a break from this when the kids were little but went back to coaching trampoline about 10 years ago but then the age thing set in and I got a back injury which meant I eventually had to give in about 4 years ago...my body was just getting too old....I can still do the splits, a cartwheel and a somersault on the trampoline in the garden although beware ladies... if you are going to try this you may need a tena lady when using those garden trampolines, oh and don't drink wine before hand either!! !! I have been cardmaking for about 4 years when a friend introduced me to it when we were both involved with childrens clubs and playschemes...I have been hooked ever since.  I started up my blog when my friend Bev introduced me to the world of blogging last year and I have met so many friends through blogging...it's fab and addictive!! My favourite crafting tools are my Big Shot(don't have a big Brucie), my stamps, my copics and my papers.

And this is the gorgeous card that Fiona sent me..

I told you it was gorgeous! I do love this image Oh La La from the latest release of Sassy stamps and you can buy her HERE.
I always have a good old wander around the Addicts blog and pick some more cards to show you....

Ahhh the beautiful Bella Bunting which you can buy HERE. These papers are so pretty and I love the additional bunting!

Little Light Of Mine...yes another of my favourites which is available to buy HERE I love Fiona's colouring and the papers are my favourite colours too.

The beautiful and much adored Hippie Chick ( I always wanted green eyes myself! )
And finally there is...

the delightful Flower Girl which you can buy HERE and they are at a special price too if you're missing any!
Fiona's colouring is so beautiful and I adore her paper choices (as well as her image choices)
Now because I was picking the cards I picked the ones with all my favourite images on and there were lots to choose from but Fiona has plenty of other stunning cards on her BLOG so please pop on over there and enjoy them yourself.
*Thank you Fiona, I thoroughly enjoyed my wanderings through your blog, you're a star*

Before I go I would like to mention that Maria and her DT over on the Simply Sassy Blog will be have a blog hop on Saturday 14th May to coincide with the release of the new set 7 Sassy stamps - and I've seen them and they are fabulous!!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

Distressed!!

And maybe at my age you could also call me vintage?

Over on the Sugar Bowl is a new challenge with a fab sketch done by the lovely Erika. Along with a sketch for you to follow is always a theme, which is optional, and for this challenge the theme is distressed/vintage.
There are many ways you can interpret 'distressed' from simply adding ink to the edges of your papers to ripping the papers or 'roughing up' the edges with specifically made tools or just a pair of scissors.

And here is Erika's fab card, a beautiful distressed and vintage look to this one. This is a digi image called Melissa and available to instantly download HERE.

This is Ali's card, and she's gone with the softer approach and distressed all the papers edges to make a very pretty and delicate card with the Sassy image Party Frills which you can buy HERE.

And here is Tiets wonderful card and this one has torn paper..I need to take medication just thinking about ripping and tearing - I'm such a big wuss! Using the Manga image Honey Bee available to buy HERE.

Karen's prize for the winner of this challenge is a wonderful 'Steampunk' themed goody bag, and steampunk is very much in vogue not only in the crafting world but it also has a huge following in the fashion world too.
The full details of the prize and the rules of entry can be found over on the Sugar Bowl Blog.
I look forward to seeing all your entries so get inky and come and play!
Thanks for looking.

Introducing....

Yesterday I introduced you to one of the GDT over on the Sassy blog, so its only right to tell you about Lou who is also doing a guest spot with Simply Sassy stamps. Having had a quick look at her blog its clear that Lou likes to work with kraft card which is a favourite of ours in the HOS. Her style is a little different to the normal which we think is great, we need more variety girls, don't be scared to try something out of the box that is how new trends are started. Give Lou a sweet sugar nellie welcome and one appreciated commenter on her Sassy post will receive a candy bag from me ;)

Congratulations to Carisa and Lou in joining up with the rest of Maria's DT over on the SIMPLY SASSY BLOG. Maria clearly has more motivation and organisational skills than me as her DT are filling up that blog with amazing projects and creations. You girls are great and your work is really appreciated, you are inspiring, talented and a great asset to any DT and we are all glad you chose to work on ours.

The Sugar Nellie DT are having a little break and to catch up, we are working on Christmas stamps at the moment, yes its true we have our Sassy set ready for the festive season already, WOW it's not like me to be a head of myself is it?

I am also looking at new ranges, I often get emails from or recommending artists work, its odd that a couple of the artist who I liked are already working in the stamp world unknown to me! Finding something that does not remind me of a stamp range that is already out there is the hardest thing, there are only so many ways to draw cute children and it is rare that I find an artist who stand out from the rest with a style that would please stampers. Often those I find are not working in English and I hit a dead end. But I will keep trying and hopefully you will all keep your eyes open for me.

Lots of appointments for me today so I had better get a wriggle on, take care.

Karen

Welcome to...

Welcome Carisa to the Sassy DT. Pop over to her blog and see why Maria chose Carisa as one of her guests on the Simply Sassy Blog

This one reminds me that Monsoon had the most amazing display in their store when I went shopping in Aberdeen. There was the display for the 50's and 70's so dig out your vintage look and be trendy this summer, after all , Sassy Girls are very trendy and only the hot fashion looks are in.

Please take the time to visit Carisa and comment on her Sassy post, as a DT member its a measure of how much your work is appreciated and as you know sometimes posting on a blog make you feel like your talking to yourself when no one answers back.

Comment on Carisa's Sassy post and I will send one of you a Sassy candy bag, these things are addictive so be prepared to hunt out the "sweeties" I am giving aways over this next week.

the sun is shining, I have a day off from work and am about to take the kids to visit my Father and his micro pigs. I had better take it easy as the rest of the week is manic, we have our biggest demo day of the year so far, in the store on Saturday 7th, we have two Queens of craft in attendance, Kath and Erika will be providing the creative inspiration on the day and I just have to turn up with the cup cakes :)

take care
Karen

Sugar Addicts Showcase Sunday.

It's Sunday morning and I'm back to put another Sugar Addict in the spotlight. I LOVE doing this, I have so much fun looking around the Sugar Bowl, blog land and Facebook to find addicts and then I get even more fun picking cards off their blogs.
The spotlight this week shines on Lis and in her own words...

I live minutes from the sea in Hornsea, in the East Riding. I am married to John, for 6 years almost, both being married for the second time. We have 2 children each , from the ages of 23 to 18. I work in the local doctors surgery where I work as a dispenser. I started there as a receptionist 4 years ago, now having taken my qualifications I dispense medicines.
I have been a crafter for nearly 10 years now, but my one true love is stamping.. mostly cute and girly images which is where my addiction came from. I recently discovered Promarkers, and you may be shocked, but I don't own anywhere near the full colour range, so the trick is making them go further in the colour spectrum.

And this is the beautiful card that Lis sent me...

I love the colouring and particularly the hair (my biggest struggle!) and the papers are so very pretty.
This image is a Sassy called Pillow Talk and you can buy her HERE.
Naturally I had a good old wander around Lis's Blog to show you...

...this stunning card that Lis made for the challenge on the Sugar Nellie group on Facebook. This image is called Windswept and isn't she just gorgeous?

Another amazing card. Lis colours so beautifully and I love all the papers. This image is called Fairytale and you can buy her HERE.

And finally is this little beauty called Spread Your Wings and you can get your inky mitts on this stamp HERE. I love the colours again on this card and those pretty flowers.

All of Lis's cards are so beautiful and her colouring is fabulous, and I spent ages going through her blog just looking and admiring. So please pop over to Lis's blog and admire her creations for yourself.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
Thanks for looking.
