Ribonita and Friends Sneak Week - Spike Striker

Good Morning Everyone and welcome to day 3 of the Sugar Nellie Ribonita and Friends Sneak Week! I (Jane) am so excited to finally be able to share my preview card with you!
This adorable little Hedgehog is called 'Striker' and he is perfect for those hard to make Little and not so little Boy's cards. I have stamped Striker on to white card and coloured him in using my Promarkers and then cut him out leaving a small border to mount onto my image panel with foam pads.

The papers I have used for my card are by Echo Park and the gorgeous cloud paper is by American Crafts. I used a Martha Stewart border punch for the grass cut from Polka dot paper.

Spike is so sweet and was lovely and easy to colour in! The sentiment I have used is an SRM sticker which I mounted onto white card and die cut before adding it to a scalloped die cut circle. Make sure you pop back tomorrow for more sugary sneak peeks!
Have a lovely Wednesday!

Sugar Addicts Showcase Sunday.

Good morning Sugar Addicts!

I have a lovely lady to shine the spotlight on today, the very talented Suzi.

My Sunday name is Susannah but known as Suzi Mac in the crafting community.  I've been married for 39 years. Have 2 grown up children and 3 beautiful Grandsons.
I've been crafting for 3 years, coming to the hobby late in life via my Daughter after having lived all over the world with a busy lifestyle as a professional singer there wasn't much time for anything else until I came back to "sunny" Scotland to retire, but I continued to do session work in the studio's for another 5 years.  I am now officially retired and can devote all my spare time to my Hobby (Obsession)!!!! lol.

My passion is rubber stamps and colouring using all types of mediums from Pro/flex markers - distress inks - water colouring and prisma pencils. I found Sugar Nellie when they launched the Sweet Sassy stamps and I fell in love with them and my love affair continues with the amazing new artists that Sugar Nellie have introduced.

And this is the beautiful card that Suzi made for me to show here today, using the Country Cousins image Outdoor Adventure.

Of course I had to have a good old nosey around Suzi's blog to pick some more cards to show you...

I love these colours and of course the beautifully coloured image Wish Upon A Star.

Oh my! Isn't this just so pretty and absolutely perfect for a 3 old year Princess, made with Let Them Eat Cake.

Suzi used the digi image Faith for this super sweet card.

And finally...I have shown this card before, as a Sugar Bowl challenge entry, but I love it and so I'm showing it again :) I love Suzi's handmade backing papers and all the pretty embellishments. This stamp is one of my favourites...Titania.

Thank You very much Suzi for allowing me to showcase just a few of your gorgeous cards here today, and I really enjoyed reading your little bio...it sounds like you've had a very exciting life so far, travelling all over the world singing!
Please pay a visit to Suzi's blog, there are so many amazing cards to see you'd better make a cuppa first, and leave her a comment so she knows you've been.

Thanks for looking.
Love Elaine xx

For me it's always hardest the first time I use a paper pad..

Hope you all have a great weekend ♥
Hugs Maria Therese

Anyone Feeling Krafty?

There's a new challenge over on the Sugar Bowl today, with a fab sketch to follow and a nice 'n' easy optional theme of 'kraft'. Of course, you can interpret that however you wish.
I've seen lots of images stamped and coloured on kraft with such beautiful results, and you can use it for matting and layering. Being a neutral colour it seems to go with almost any colour scheme. It's very versatile and I love it myself, so I really enjoyed this challenge.

Everybody say 'aaaahhhhhh'
No better way to start the day than with Pippi Longsocks
Maria did the sketch for this challenge and this is her super sweet card.

This is Ali's card using the stamp Posy Pip, I love the embossing on kraft, and it goes so well with purple.
And finally....

....I started with Pippi so I'll finish with Pippi!
Yeah, yeah..I hear ya, any excuse to show off a Pippi and I'm there :)
Pat's fabulous card uses the image Pippi Longsocks...did I tell you that already huh??
Have you seen the green DP..it has little faces on it, too cute! I said to Pat that they look like peas, but she assures me they are in fact frogs (still looks like a pile of peas to me and I LOVE peas..I could eat them with every meal)

You have almost two weeks to get your entry in...and maybe win a prize, and who wouldn't love to win some new rubber?

Thanks for looking.

Delia's Birthday Wishes

Good morning Sugar Nellie addicts.  This is Anita and I have a birthday card to share with you today.

This gorgeous little fairy is Delia ... isn't she delightful?  One of my dear friends has a granddaughter who's turning 5 and I thought this would be a perfect card for her as she loves pink.  She's colored with distress inks and I used lots of Glamour Dust on her.  What 5 year-old girl doesn't love glitter?  My paper is Madison Avenue by My Mind's Eye and the corner die is the Macarena Corner by Memory Box.

You can find sweet Delia here at Funky Kits

Thank you for stopping by for a visit and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Anita

birthday bunny

Hello dear fans of those cute Sugar Nellie stamps!
It's Kathrin here sharing a birthday card with you today.

I hardly ever know who I want to make a card for before it is done. But it was different with this card and since the recipient loves animals picking an image was easy.

I used

from the Home Grown Soft Centres range on this one.
With its big gift he is the perfect image to be used on birthday cards.

I made a dotted background around him which I think is always great for animals images since it adds that touch of extra life.
I put a punched fence and some grass to his left and right and on the left bottom corner/left side I added some punched leaves and some tiny blue flowers. They are really small and so I just sprinkled them over the glue that I put on the card first. I added a few tiny pearls between them and finished the card with a big bow and a "slice of cake on a plate charm".
The papers are from DCWV and gcd, the text is by Stampin'Up.

Okay, off now to write and send the card and then to enjoy the last day of carnival here.
Wishing all of you a lovely day!

Hugs,

FLY FREE.................

Morning all........

It's Vicky here today and I've got the huge pleasure to show you an older stamp from the Leanne Ellis range....and isn't she so cute with her wee birdie...just perfect for those Spring cards me thinks..

Fly Free ~ Leanne Ellis

I have used some gorgeous Prima Papers "Pixie Glen" and a couple of Marianne Creatable dies..

And I have used some Flexmarkers, Spectrum Noirs and Prisma Pencils to colour...and a little Stardust Stickles to add a bit of bling..!

and a side view...

I love matting my papers on some co-ordinated card stock to "lift" the papers and I have followed the fabulous sketch over at The Sugar Bowl too...thank you Kiki.. :o)

For more details please pop over to my blog here...

So that's all from me today...thanks so much for popping by and I hope you all have a lovely day..

Big hugs Vicky xx

New Artist

Hello Sugar addicts and blog readers.

I have something exciting to share with you today, what is more exciting than a new artist!

You know my eye's are for ever on the look out for new talent, some one who has already created
their  characters in a style that is completely their own. Characters that I know that stamper would love
to spend time colouring and sweet enough to join our family here at the House Of Sugar.

Today I share with you, our new discovery.

Carla Chaves is a lovely girl from Portugal and you can pop over and see her work on etsy or more about what she loves on her blog. Carla will work with us to bring you great new art to compliment you creative style.

Carla has illustrated four of her RIBONITA character's for Sugar Nellies March release and other's are to follow.

I would be delighted if you want to leave me a comment as to what characters you would like to see made into stamps, you know that Sugar Nellie is small enough to listen and big enough to do something about it.

I am sure Carla would also appreciate a warm welcome from our followers as this is a field which is new to her, lets show her what amazing creations our sugar addicts can make from her art work.

I ain't going to show you any peeks because the DT will do a far better job than I can, not long now and you can see for yourself how cute these girls are going to be as stamps.

*********

Yesterday I should have been at the NEC with others in a Tim Holtz class but sadly I will not be able to attend the trade show this year and also miss my class. But my good friend Erika is down there and I am sure she will keep me in the loop as to whats new and hot. Got to love craft shopping. I know that there are many new released from our favourite companies and  our store will soon have plenty of great ideas that we can teach and display in store.

For now I will settle myself by opening my cases from my trip to USA and all my lovely craft goodies that I can not get here. I am still waiting for my craft caravan to be sited so that I can move in and start to play. Keeping my fingers crossed that it might be done tomorrow but we have snow again and it's really cold, I don't want to move away from the real fire and I don't blame the others for staying warm and cozy inside either.

A mystery parcel arrived for me at the HOS, some chocolates but I know not from whom they came?
A card said "enjoy the experience", nothing more as to who kindly sent some chocolate my way.

Mystery chocolate lover, I thank you very much for my gift.

I had Megan at work today and did not open them as I would have been obliged to share with my hungry 9 year old and one of my favourite sayings from the film Matilda.................much too good for children.

You all stay warm and take care

Karen

Angellica

Hello all sugar friends, today it is me/Marianne that has something sweet to show you.
I`m kind of tired of snow and winter, and I`m dreaming of spring. The beautiful Fairy Glen images give me a warm spring feeling. The lovely fairy I have used for my card is called Angellica, and you can find her and all of her Fairy Glen friends over at Funky Kits.

This time I have used my Copics for the coloring. The colors I have used for her clothes are V91 – V93 – V95 – V99. I have framed the card with punches from Martha Stewart, and decorated with flowers, pearls, a bow, and die cut swirls and butterfly.

Here is the inside.

I wish you all a sweet and creativ weekend.
Hugs from Marianne:)

Trip to the park

Goodmorning everyone, I hope everyone is feeling fine??
Tiets here with a new card to show you.. This time I ha ve used the stamp trip to the park...

I found the papers somewhere in a forgotten box and such a shame because they are lovely... Heidi grace design.
I've colored with copics markers.
I've tried to make a bit of a vintage card with the lace en de seembinding ribbon from the ribbon girl....Ofcourse lots of flowers and roses on it , to complete the card.

It is almost weekend now , so I wish you happy scrapping and enjoy!

Hugs Tiets xx

I Found Some Fairies...

...not at the bottom of my garden, but a whole host of gorgeous fairies over on the Sugar Bowl.
I love these fairies...from their sweet angelic faces and gossamer wings, right down to their little tippy toes.

This beautiful card was made by my bestest American buddy Amanda using the stamp Fifi Goes Walkies.
And yes, I am going to take all the credit for introducing Amanda to our sweet rubber stamps!
LOVE your colouring...but you know that already :)

Suzi always makes the most fabulous cards and this one, made with the image Titania is no exception.
Simply gorgeous Suzi :)

This card is Caz's first ever entry into the Sugar Bowl challenge...I hope we see many more from you now Caz! Such a pretty card using the stamp Knitted With Love.

Thank you ladies for your beautiful cards and for playing along with us...I hope to see you all back again soon! If you haven't entered the challenge yet, there's almost a week left to get your entry in.

Thanks for looking.
Love Elaine xx

**********

Thank you Elaine, you are so good at picking beautiful cards, it does help that our entries into the Sugar Bowl challenge are so sweet too.

Not so sweet for me today, very sour day it is.
I know that if you read this blog you are aware that there are crafters out there who disrespect stamp companies by sharing there work without permission and in breach of the terms of use.

Last night was a stinger.........
One lady, not even a customer of Funkykits (unless she has changed her name)
decided to load most of our Adorable digi stamps on to a Free Share web site.
I have reported her, I did press the "destroy with missile" button on my key board
but nothing has happened.
They are all still there, its like sitting with my credit card details printed on the web for everyone to see.
At lease the credit card company can stop any transaction,
but the site I am dealing with are not so fast on their feet.

I have so many images that I could make available as digital art
BUT its because of issues like this that I am frightened at the level of abuse we would open our self up to.

FREE SHARE SITES ARE WRONG
never upload images to the web
even if you think no one can see them

only put up finished cards and projects.
(even try to avoid watermarked images if you can)
Dirty crafters are taking images from every where and sharing them.

It's ironic that this woman has a YouTube clip about MEGA downloads
being sued for allowing the sharing of music and videos, does that bother her?
She clearly thinks that stamps are OK to share as do all her friend on the site.
Shame on you Florance!

It is such a shame that one rotten apple spoils the barrel :(

**********

I will defiantly need something sweet to balance my day,
but I have lost the cake Erika baked for me.
My oh My, my days getting worse!

Karen

LOVE you!

Good Morning Sugar Addicts! I hope you had a lovely Valentine's day yesterday, Jane here today and I have some more hearts and flowers for you this week, I guess LOVE is still in the air!
I have used some of my favourite papers by My Mind's Eye. These papers are from the Love me Collection and I think they are my favourite papers ever! This is the 1st pad where I have used every single sheet! I have used the adorable girl  bySusanne Woolcott ~Sent with love~ which is available to buy here from Funky Kits.

I layered all my papers onto Kraft and sewed around the edges and followed this fortnight's Sugar Bowl sketch by Kiki which is just fab! I will be using this one again!  I followed the optional theme is 'Love' and I used a sentiment by Hero Arts on one of my layered panels. I used a variety of flowers and a swirl and pin from my stash to embellish the card and a tag tied with twine tucked behind the main panel.

I coloured the image with my Promarkers keeping to a simple colour scheme of brown, pinks and grey to match the papers and kraft.  I used to love making Christmas cards but I must be getting soppy in my old age as I have really enjoyed making Love themed cards this year and have quite a few in my basket now! What are your favourite occasions to make cards for Birthdays, Christmas .......Easter, maybe Weddings or 'Just Because' cards, I always think these are the best ones to receive! I love getting post and you cannot beat receiving a handmade card!
I hope you have a Lovely Wednesday :-)

Trip to the Park...

Hello fellow Sugar addicts! Pat Frank here, coming to you from Richmond, Virginia, U.S.A., with a new Sugar Nellie card! And, despite the fact that tomorrow is Valentine's Day, this is NOT a Valentine!! Seriously, I wanted to use colors besides pink and red! So...I dug out some yummy dusty blue and lime green paper...and made a little "Thinking of You" card instead...

I just love this Sugar Nellie stamp. Maybe because I have two puppies...both toy poodles! But trust me, they're not nearly this well-behaved on their leashes! LOL! This stamp is called "Trip to the Park" and is part of the Puppy Love collection of Home Grown Sugar Nellie stamps. You can find it HERE at Funky Kits. How about a peek at the inside?

I love finishing off the insides of my cards! This one is actually pretty simple...but has coordinating DPs and a few faux pearls! The image was colored with Copics and Prismacolor pencils...and these gorgeous DPs are from First Editions' "Up, up, and away" collection. If you'd like more info on this card as well as a peek at a few more photos, please pop on over to my blog HERE.

So...that's it for me. Hope you have a great Valentine's Day...and a fabulous week!
Pat

Sunday Showcase ~ Facebook.

Good Morning!

I wanted to do a little post on the Sugar Nellie Facebook group. (which you can find HERE.)
It's a lovely friendly group made up of Sugar Addicts. You can upload your cards or projects made with Sugar Nellie images, ask questions or advice, join in with a challenge, and generally chat.
If you don't have your own blog then it's a great place to showcase your cards.
There are albums where you can see all the uploaded cards, which is fab for a bit of inspiration if your mojo has gone walkabout.

I picked out just a few of them...

This highly detailed and beautiful card was made by Joyce using the stamp Jelly Pip

A very striking and stylish card made by Victoria, using the digi image also called Victoria

Susan has made such a sweet and pretty card with the stamp Rosie.

Debs used the Sassy stamp Call Me for her ever-so-pretty pink card.

And of course I had to show this gorgeous card made by the lovely Shirley using my favouritest ever stamp Pippi Longsocks.

Why not pay us a visit there and join in? It's a great place to meet new people, make new friends and have a good laugh too.

Thanks for looking.
Love Elaine xx

Autumn stamp in Spring color

Maria here with my first post at the Sugar Nellie blog.
For my card I've used the Autumn Kit from Sugar Nellie

But I've used soft and light colors to make it more in the Spirit of Spring.
The image is colored with Copic and the papers are from MME
Madison Avenue paper pad.
The background is Clear stamps with distress ink and sprayed with Glimmer mist.
The little embellishment is stamped with clear stamp punched out with circle punch,
washi tape to match the colors of the card and image a butterfly punch and a pearl.
Easy to customize to match the card and image.

If you don't have the Autumn kit yet go over to Funky kit.
You get so many stamps for such a fabulous price.

last night in USA

Our wee holiday has almost come to an end :( but I have lots of goodies and many more ideas to go home with. My last whip around Michael's this morning followed by a delicious lunch at the Olive Garden, got to love warm salty garlic bread and the salads are soooooo good here, seriously green leaves are delish covered in all sorts of dressings and maybe a little cheese too. Ok so that was just the side dish, it's just as well I am only here for one week.

Have I put on weight ?, well this jumper is a wee bit tight but I blame that on all our washing being put in the dryer, no washing lines outside here, mind you there is still a little snow and no wind at all so nothing would dry out doors!

Tonight we are going out to meet the family so that will be good fun, along with the last minuet arrival of a sister/bridesmaid as soon as the bus gets in from Pen State. The more family we see the better because we will all know each other at the wedding in the summer.

Bridesmaid's dresses are not 100% settled yet, no money has changed hands but I think we have a good idea of what the brides want and that is a big improvement from last Friday.

As I still hear listening to the exchange student talking in German on the phone to home, I feel that a lot of the time I struggle with English and he talks 4 or 5 languages inc latin, too much brains for one person. So its quiet normal for homes to host exchange students, not sure there is much of that in Scotland. Wonder how hard it would be to sign Megan up for a few years?

Nothing new in the shops here, CHA releases will be a long time in filtering down to the big multiple stores and by then I will be home in Scotland and have to make do with the wonderful offering at my local store for local people :)

Karen

A Winter Hello

It's freezing overhere and there is snow, so I thought, let's make a winter card :)

I have made this card with the gorgeous and lovely stamp "Furry Friends"
I've colored the image with my Copics, I put some stickles Frosted Lace on her fur, , the beautiful papers are from Maja Design "Vintage Winter".
The flowers are from Wild Orchid Craft, leaves are made by a Martha Stewart punch.
Lace and seambinding are from the Ribbon Girl.

You can find all these lovely stamps at Funky Kits !!

Have a nice weekend, I will stay inside, where it's nice and warm :)

hugs Astrid

Love Is....

...the sweetest thing.

And also the theme for the new challenge over on the Sugar Bowl along with a fab sketch to follow.

The sketch was provided by Kiki and her beautiful wedding card uses the Home Grown stamp Happily Ever After. What could be more perfect for the 'Love' theme than a card to celebrate the most romantic day in anyones life.

Fiona used the Sassy stamp Oh La La for her fab card...maybe this little lady is waiting to propose to her beau? After all...it is a leap year!

And finally, Pat has used the Sassy stamp Pillow Talk to create her gorgeous card...I wonder if she is going to send this to her lovely husband for Valentines Day? I will interrogate Pat shortly and find out!

I hope you will find a little time to play along with us and join in the challenge.

Before I go...do you like the new look blog? Between Sugar Mama Gayle and makeover girl Maria we have a new look here and over on the Sugar Bowl and new badges too.
Can you imagine how excited I was to see Pippi not only on the header but also on my Sweetie badge...I love it! (my campaign for Pippi world domination is working out just fine)

Thanks for looking
Love Elaine xx

Cherry Pip

Good morning sweet friends.  I am so excited to be on the Sugar Nellie Design Team with all these fabulous ladies.  Today is my first post on the Sugar Nellie blog.

I made a card using this adorable Cherry Pip from the Home Grown Sherbet Pips collection.  Isn't she just the cutest little girl ever?  This was the first time I've inked her up and I have to say she was so much fun to color.  I used my copics and colored pencils.  I love her outfit and purse.  What little girl wouldn't love to have a beautiful little dress like that with matching purse and shoes?

You can see Cherry Pip and all her Sherbet Pip friends over at Funky Kits.  I know you'll love them as much as I do.  If you would like more details on my card, please visit my blog.  Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a chance to get inky today.

Hugs, Anita

Postcard....

...from Pheonixville USA.
I took the girls to the airport in Glasgow on Friday morning, all packed and ready to go to Prague.

Just before check in I told them that we were not going to Prague but our flight was to Newark (New York) and that we were to surprise Tom when he came home from work later on in the day.
Both  girls were delighted but dazzeled with the surprise, but Katie still asked 20 questions about Prague and Easy Jet!?!
Debbie's soon to be mother in law, Nancy, has been fantstic and  collected us from the airport and has been driving us around since then. Two days of bridesmaids dress shopping and I am done, stick a fork in me, IF we could get the bride to make a choice we would almost be there! Colour or style or even better BOTH.
I have paid a visit to AC Moore and Jo Anne's so far but still have Micheal's to stop at. I also have a parcel waiting with the local Stamping Up demonstrator to collect :)

By shear chance there was also a big trade show on at the Expo centre and as much as I could have done so much shopping, the baggage allowance is pants! I do have contacts for some really cute gift lines that I might just have to take into the HOS, I hope Kate has been busy while I am away this week as I have so many new ideas to take home with me, I need space. Be warned, Tim Holtz would love my new display props.
Oh I do wish I had taken a camera with me to that, not only would I love to share the pictures of the show stands but the shopping habbits of the customers.

At home my boy watches a programme called Picker and also Storage Wars, now I know that this is in fact a very prolific pastimes for many many Americans. I really got my eyes opened to the the meaning of recycle and antiques. Cameron need not worry about me collecting old things because I ain't got nothing going on compared to some.

He might not be happy about the arrival of my Craft Caravan on the farm but I have so many things to use it for now, we just have to find a wheel for it so it can be moved into it's space along side the hedge, it fell off when it was delivered by an artic lorry which could not get around the  house and "dumped" it in the farm yard, hubby was not a happy bunny that day!

When I logged in to the this blog, I was surprised to see we had a new look, well done girls, I think its Gayle and Maries doing but its super cute to see some new artwork on the banner, great job girls.oxo

take care and catch you soon

Karen
