Thank You...and Farewell...

Happy Wednesday, my sweet friends and fellow "sugar" lovers!! Pat Frank here once again. I am writing this post with mixed emotions. You see, I've made the very difficult decision to step down from Sugar Nellie's Design Team so that I can spend more time pursuing other expressions of art...including charcoal and watercolor portraiture.

And, since I'm going to spend more time on my art career, I thought it would be fun to share a card I created and posted last year using one of my favorite Sugar Nellie stamps!

*********
This is one of Krista Smith's "Simply Sassy" images created exclusively for Sugar Nellie. Her name is, "Artistic Goddess" . . . and I do believe she was my very FIRST "Simply Sassy" stamp. I just love her facial expression . . . and funky specs! And, ohhhh, that hair! What fun!! "Artistic Goddess" is available HERE at Funky Kits.

I colored this cutie with the following Copics:
Skin: E21, 00, 000, 0000
Cheeks: R30 & R20
Hair: E25, 23, 21, 50, 15, YR21 & 20
Eyes: G46, 43, 40
Purples: V28, 25, 22, 20, 000
Peachy pinks: R22, 20, 00, 000

Here's a bit of a side view . . .
I had to laugh . . . I showed my husband this card and, of course, he told me he liked it! (He's so good like that! hehehe!) Then he said, "I hope the theme isn't 'Clean & Simple', cuz if it is, you're in big trouble!" I tell ya, I was ROTFL!

My card "recipe" . . .
Creamy Caramel, Black, & Very Vanilla cardstock: Stampin' up
DPs: "Almanac Collection" by Prima
Lace, feathers, pearls, buttons, flower, Scrabble tiles, & twine: My stash
Film, hangers, & "clock die: Tim Holtz
Butterfly medallions: Bo Bunny
Mini Clips: Stampin' Up
Sentiment: Stampers Anonymous
Artist stamp (inside): 100 Proof Press
Wonky Rectangle Nesties: Spellbinders
and a few colored pencils on top of my Copics

. . . a peek at the inside . . .
And a closeup of that hilarious sentiment! I must admit, I can't disagree with it at all! LOL!
And, finally . . .

I am so very thankful to Karen & Gayle and all of my friends here at Sugar Nellie for giving me the opportunity to hang out with them and all of my talented DT sisters...and to play with some of the sweeeeetest "rubber" and digis out there!

So...that's it for me, kiddos! Thanks so much for stopping by to take a peek at my last Sugar Nellie DT card! Sending best wishes and big hugs...today and always!

Strolling Down "Memory Lane"...

Hello there, m'darlings!! Pat Frank here again!! Soooo...I decided that this week I'd re-post my very first project as a Sugar Nellie Designer. This actually appeared on my blog on September 26, 2011! I had fun "reliving" the making and posting of this card! I hope you enjoy!

*********
Hey sweet friends! Welcome to the Land of Sugar! No, not because I'm so sweeeeet (although I am pretty sweet, that's true!), but because today is my very FIRST post as a Designer on Sugar Nellie's Blog!! Whoohooo!! Can ya tell...I'm a little excited?!!  (And just a bit nervous to be joining the ranks of such an amaaaazing team of talented and fun ladies!!) Soooo...for my "debut" card, I decided to ink up a new stamp called "Posy Pip" (you are soooo gonna love her!!)...

"Posy" is one of the newest "Sherbet Pips"...from the Home Grown Collection of Sugar Nellie stamps. You can find Posy and her friends (along with all kinds of Sugar Nellie deliciousness) at Funky Kits. I decided to showcase this little darlin' with one of my fave "twisted easel" style cards. You can find a great "Twisted Easel Card" tutorial by the very creative Pam Sparks HERE.

Now...I have to admit...I know less than NOTHING about flowers (except I know what a rose looks like!)...so...is Posy Pip here is supposed to be holding a potted posy? Well...not today!! Today, little Miss Posy is holding a potted SUNFLOWER!! Yep...we call that "artistic license" where I come from! hehehehe!! And since I made the flower a sunflower, I was able to use some fun Flower Soft (I believe the color is called "Nut Brown") in the center!! Kinda cute, huh? Ya can't do THAT with a posy, now, can ya? Oh, wait...maybe you can...beats me! I don't know a thing about flowers, rememba?! ROTFL! (I crack myself up!) Here's one more photo...this one is a wee bit of an "artsy" angle...

Here's my card "recipe"...
  • Copics & Prismacolor pencils (I used so many, I lost track...sorry)
  • Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze, & Not Quite Navy Cardstock from Stampin' Up
  • DPs & Baja Breeze seam binding (SU)
  • Sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps
  • Pearls are from my every growing "stash"
  • Lace and those delicious flowers (they're roses...see, I know the names of some flowers!) are from Wild Orchids Crafts...
Oh...and those faaaaabulous dies are made by Memory Box.

Okey dokey...that's it for me, my lovelies. Thanks so much for stopping by to visit! I'll see you again next week! Until then...big hugs!

Special Delivery...

Happy Wednesday, sugar lovers! Pat Frank here with another new card!! This week's card features a cute little Sugar Nellie stamp from the "Home Grown Christmas Collection" called Special Delivery. It's available HERE at Funky Kits!

I colored this image with Copics & Colored Pencils...added some Liquid Applique...then added some Martha Stewart coarse glitter and pearls, and popped on a pretty green bow!! Easy peasy Christmas card!! If you'd like to see a couple of other pictures of this card, please pop on over to my blog HERE!

Until next time...

Penguin Party!!

Hello there, "sugar" lovers! Pat Frank here again with a fun new project to share with you!! So...here's the thing...we have fewer than 80 days before Christmas Day!! What?! Well...with that in mind, I've decided to slip into full "Christmas mode" and make a Christmas Tree decoration!

This week's project features a sweet little Sugar Nellie digi image from the "Home Grown Digital Collection" called "Penguin Party." It's available HERE at Funky Kits!

I purchased a little metal Christmas ornament intended for inserting a photo. So, instead of using a photograph, I simply printed a teeny tiny copy of this sweet little Sugar Nellie digi image...colored it with Copics & Colored Pencils...added some Liquid Applique...and added some Flower Soft "snow" and pearls...and voila!! If you'd like to see another picture of this project, pop on over to my blog HERE!

Hugs . . .

Obsessions...

Hey there, "Sugar" lovers! Pat Frank here with my first ever "Wednesday" post!! I'm not sure if you've noticed yet, but there are some fun changes happening around here!! So be sure to come back daily to see what new and exciting stuff is going on!

Sugar Mama Gayle asked me to talk about my crafting & art obsessions today! No problemo! But first, I thought it might be fun for you to take a little walk down memory lane with me! Sooooooo...here's my first card as a Sugar Bowl DT "Sweetie"...which was created and posted 3 whole years ago...in Oct. 2010!

This quirky little digi image is called "Puppy Dog Tails." It was created by Diane Duda for Sugar Nellie...and is available HERE at Funky Kits!

Since Oct. 2010, I've been making cards and working on mastering Copic Sketch Markers...Colored Pencils...and Distress Inks!! But I wanted more, more, more!! So I decided to take a drawing class...and then another...and then another! Here are a few of my sketches...

Pears (from a photo)...

Avocados (from a magazine cover)...

Tea Kettle (from life)...

A sweet little Asian girl (from a book)...

I must admit that I thoroughly enjoy drawing! Still life drawings are fun...but my all-time favorite subjects are children...and, more specifically, our grandchildren! I love sketching our grandbabies!! Here's one I did of sweet little Isla Bleu, our youngest granddaughter...

Then...last year (2012), I decided to give painting a try! So I signed up for a Watercolor class! Watercolor...one of the most exciting, challenging, and unpredictable mediums around! And...oh, oh, ohhhh...I discovered I love watercolor! And just yesterday, I finished my first ever portrait!

Allow me to introduce Sophia Elizabeth...another one of our gorgeous granddaughters!

So...my obsession? One word...ART!! Whether it's cardmaking, drawing, or painting...I love it all! Now...how about you? What is your crafting and art obsession? Inquiring minds (like mine) want to know!

Thanks for sharing my Sugar Nellie Wednesday with me!! Be sure to stop back tomorrow for more fun!
Hugs...

I colored this image with Shin Han and Copic Sketch markers...then added a little colored pencil!

"Peek-a-Boo" Birthday...

Hap-hap-happy Monday, sweet friends! Pat Frank here with another new Sugar Nellie DT project to share with you! Today's card is a fun (and cute, I think!) birthday card...

This sweet little stamp is called "Peek-a-Boo" and is from Sugar Nellie's "Home Grown" collection! It's available HERE at Funky Kits.

As always, I colored this image with Copic Sketch markers...then deepened the shading a bit with colored pencils! I love the sheerness of Copics for things like those overlapping balloons! Here's a bit of an angled photo...kind of "artsy," wouldn't you agree?!

If you'd like more info on this project plus a look at a couple of additional pics, please visit my blog HERE!!

And, that's it for me! Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit! Have a fabulous week!! Hugs...

For the Birthday boy!!

Hey there, sweet friends! Pat Frank here with another new Sugar Nellie DT project to share with you! First, though, I'd like to thank all of you who left comments on my last Sugar Nellie post! It looks like I'm not the only one who has made a couple of Christmas cards already!! hehe! But...no Christmas card today!! Today's project is for a handsome little guy's 9th birthday!

That's right! Our one and only grandson, Brody, will be 9 in just a few days...so I made a "hanging" card for him (with a pocket on the back for a gift card, of course!!) That way, he can hang it on his bedroom door...and years from now, when he's been out partying a bit too hard, he'll be able to find his bedroom!! LOL!

This cute little stamp is called "Number One Fan" and is from the Simply Sassy collection of stamps created by Krista Smith specifically for Sugar Nellie. It's available HERE at Funky Kits.

As per my usual, I colored this image with Copic Sketch markers...then deepened the shading a bit with colored pencils! Here's an"artsy" angle...

I'm pretty sure Brody is going to love this...especially the gift card part! If you'd like more info on this project plus a look at a couple of additional pics, please visit my blog HERE!!

Have a fabulous week!! Hugs...until next time.

Christmas...in July?! Why not?!

Happy Monday all you sweet little elves!! Pat Frank here checking in to see what you'be been up to! Oh, and of course, I have another new Sugar Nellie DT project to share with you all! But first, I have to ask...did you have a great time at Saturday's "Summer Adorables" Blog Hop?! The new images are...well, they're ADORABLE! And they're digis...and they're available right now HERE at Funky Kits...and, because they're digital images, instant gratification!  Ya gotta love that!!

Now...let's talk about Christmas and Winter Holidays, shall we? How many of you have started your Christmas/Winter Holiday cards? This makes #3 for me! Wheet whoooo! Take a look...

Yep...as tempting as it was for me to create something summery with the new "Summer Adorables"...or those precious fairies from the "Return to Fairy Glen" stamp collection, I just had to ink up this quirky little "Pointsettia Girl" stamp by Leanne Ellis! She's available HERE at Funky Kits.

Once again, I colored this image with Copic Sketch markers...then deepened the shading a bit with colored pencils! Here's another, kind of "artsy" angle...

I do so love making "shabby chic" cards with my Leanne Ellis stamps...and I think this card is definitely shabby chic! I hope you've enjoyed looking at my latest Sugar Nellie project!! If you'd like more info on this card plus a look at a few more pics, please visit my blog HERE!!

Ooooh...please leave a comment telling us just how many 2013 Winter Holiday cards you've made so far! And...have a fabulous week!! Hugs...until next time.

Today it's a "Return to Fairy Glen" fairy!

Would you just look at that sweet face?! And what pretty hair...and wings! She wears those wings so well, don't you agree?! This little darlin' is called "No Shell Like Home" and is available HERE at Funky Kits. No wait...this stamp was so popular, that Funky Kits has had to re-order! Be sure to check back...it should be back in stock sooner than soon!

Once again, I colored this image with Copic Sketch markers...then deepened the shading a bit with colored pencils! Here's another angle...

I hope you've enjoyed looking at my latest Sugar Nellie project!! If you'd like more info on this card plus a look at a few more pics, please visit my blog HERE!!

Artistic Goddess...

Happy Monday, my sweets!! Pat Frank here...and I have a new Sugar Nellie DT project to share with you! But first, I have to ask...did you get a chance to "Blog Hop" with us this past Saturday? I think you'll agree that the new "Return to Fairy Glen" stamps are utterly delicious!! I am soooooo looking forward to the arrival of my package! (The poor little postman will be seriously "stalked" until they arrive! hehe!)

Okey dokey...on to my newest Sugar Nellie creation! This card is for a very good friend of mine who is an amazingly talented artist!! She has just been accepted into a rather prestigious art program in Pennsylvania! I am just so proud and excited...and a wee bit jealous of her!  So I decided I'd make a "Congrats" card for her! Well...what'cha think?

I've always loved this fun Sugar Nellie "Simply Sassy" stamp!! In fact, she was my very first Simply Sassy stamp!! Those glasses on the edge of her nose...and that hair!! What's not to love, right? She's called "Artistic Goddess" (appropriately so!) and she's available HERE at Funky Kits.

Once again, I colored this image with Copic Sketch markers...then deepened the shading a bit with colored pencils! Here's another angle...

I hope you've enjoyed my latest Sugar Nellie project!! And I hope it makes my friend smile all over her face! If you'd like more info on this card plus a look at a few more pics, please visit my blog HERE!!

And now...to my newest Sugar Nellie creation. Sadly, I've made another "Sympathy" card. This one is for a friend of mine whose brother recently passed away...

I've always loved this darling Sugar Nellie "Simply Adorable" digital image!! Her name is Melissa" and I think she's just perfect for a "Sympathy" card. You can find this digi image HERE at Funky Kits.

I colored this sweetheart with Copics and colored pencils (my usual)...and then added just a few embellishments! Here's another angle...
