snow buddies

Hello everyone!
Kathrin here today with another card to share. And My Flakey Friend was the only one I could choose - we woke up to a thick layer of snow on saturday morning and it is still there... And it only took my girls a few minutes to get out and build their own snow buddy.

I went with those frosty blues and some turquoise on my card and after my girls came back in from the garden their noses and cheeks were red from the cold air. So I also thought of making the little boy's nose and cheeks rosy.

Of course I had to add some snowflakes/ice crystals to my card as well. And Mr. Snowman needed some Stickles, so did the snow on the ground.

The text is printed with my computer.
And voila, a boy's card is finished. I think I start really liking them, they are so much faster to do! LOL

Have a wonderful day everyone!

SOS - Happening?

Wonderful, talented and dedicated, that's just a few words to describe our Sugar Nellie DT. I would like to thank them all for their hard work. I hope you all enjoyed the wee blog hop, just three new digis to add to the Sparkle and Shine release.

I am slowly adding more Simple Sassy designs by Krista Smith to our digi range.
Along with a few all time favourites that are running low or completely sold out in rubber.
We just have too many stamps now, after 5 years its time to let some of them go and if I have the licence they will be made digi, eventually. Only so many hours in a day and one one pair of hands.
See the new additions here

Many stamps are 50% off in our BIRTHDAY BONUS over on Funkykits,
they have out grown their space in the HOS and need to trip things down.

Shipping a big box of rubber over to the USA this week as I get ready to open our
AMERICAN & CANADIAN only web store. Just a few logistics to figure out and we are ready to go.
Dispatched from Philadelphia which will be a great improvement in postal service to all our sugar addicts on the other side of the pond who will be able to shop at  www.sugarnellie.com

There has been a rush of Gorjuss girls this week, someone has given our American customers the heads up that they are on sale and stock is moving fast. I have been packing rubber all week and the post office sure did get a pleasant surprise at seeing me return with our mail in sacks. { it is only surplus stock that is on clearance and once this is sold we will revert to RRP for the final inventory } grab yours here

Schools are back tomorrow, and with only a few weeks until our family holiday in Philadelphia we are wrapping up for winter. Customers in the store are also stocking up for the cold winter days when they are not going to be able or want to leave their cozy homes to come shopping.

One more in store demonstration before Christmas
Papercraft ELGIN 3rd November
Creative OLDMELDRUM 10th November
we are pulling out all the stops as this is the last demo of the season and of 2012
great deals on gifts for crafters this Christmas
ideas on things to make other than cards
a few easy cards for last minuet makes
better than "one time only" offers
sweeter "promotional bundle's" than any TV show
and there might even be cake!

Well that's a run down of what's happening on my desk this week.
Hope you are well on the way to completing your Christmas cards
if not digi will give you a quick sugar fix
and we do have some super cute Christmas images for you to colour.

take care
Karen

Umbrellas...Mermaids...Snowflakes.

Good Morning :)

Well the weather in my part of the UK has turned really cold and blustery, but the days have been bright and sunny - much better than those horrible dark and dreary days we often have - and it's been dry for most of this week...no rain whoohoo!
But things are still wet, wet, wet over on the Sugar Bowl blog, with still almost a week left to get your entry in.

A stunning card from our very own DT girly Vicky using the Manga stamp April Showers.
I love these colours! And the die cut umbrellas are simply perfect.

Another little stunner, this card is Susie's entry using the very popular mermaid image Under The Sea.
Lovin' the raffia and how it looks like seaweed, and the 'out of the die' technique.
(I don't know what the technique is really called but you know what I mean!)

And a frosty festive card from Coops this time with a Simply Sassy image.
It's unavailable as a rubber stamp but you can buy All Wrapped Up as a digi image.
Coops has used the paper piecing technique on her card...I love paper piecing, it's a great way to use up paper scraps and it ties the image in with the background papers perfectly.

Public Service Announcement....If you're in the UK then don't forget that the clocks go back one hour this weekend which means an extra hour in bed for me on Sunday yaaaaayyyyyyyy!
Or you could spend the time much more productively and make a card to join in with our challenge :)

Thanks for looking.

Pretty in Pink Birthday Girl

Hello Everyone! Jane here today with a card made using one of the lovely Sugar Nellie Manga stamps. I love this cute little girl and her boots and socks. I stamped her onto Watercolour card and coloured her in with my Promarkers before die cutting her out into an oval.

I used My Mind's Eye paper from The Sweetest Thing Honey pad. I love the pinks and yellows together and the mix of patterns. I added a sentiment by Penny Black and a brown gingham bow topped with a button and tucked a little paper tulip behind. I finished with more flowers and some stick on gems.

Here is a close up of my image. I love her cute little bunches! I hope you have a lovely Wednesday!

The flowers are all handmade and everything else is from my stash.

Have A Be-Witching Good Time

Hello sweet friends.  Do you enjoy making Halloween cards?  I have a few friends that do not care for Halloween.  But I love creating Halloween cards and decorating for Halloween.  You see, Halloween is also my daughter's birthday so it's one of my favorite days of the year!

I thought I would make a birthday card with a "Halloween" theme and I used this lovely image called Witches Cauldren.  She's such a beautiful witch, isn't she?  I colored her with copics and colored pencils and used a black glaze pen on her buttons.  I used some cheesecloth behind my image and then wrapped some twine and added a little charm.  In addition to being available as a rubber stamp here she's also available as a digi at Funky Kits here.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful day!

Hugs, Anita

Wet, Wet, Wet!

Good Morning :)

The title of this post does not refer to the typical British weather, though yes it has been rather wet, wet, wet!
Nor am I referring to Scotland's second most famous export...the pop/rock band made famous by hits in the 80's and 90's with certain songs still played at almost every wedding.

Nope...wet, wet, wet is the optional theme for the new Sugar Bowl challenge with a fabby sketch from the lovely Jennifer.

Jennifer has used the image Aqua Marina for her beautiful card. The mermaids tail has been paper pieced which gives the effect of scales, and the die cut bubbles are a perfect embellishment.

Another mermaid...of course these are the perfect choice for the theme, this time from Fiona and using the stamp Ocean's Gift.
Fabulous colours and I love the sparkly droplets!

Kiki has gone with a different kind of image, but still very much associated with the wet theme.
Not only do we have an umbrella, but also snow on the stamp Winter Wonderland.
And embellished with a flurry of snowflakes...now if only snowflakes stayed on cards and decorations and not on the ground then I would be a happy bunny!

I hope these gorgeous cards have given you the inspiration to join in with our fortnightly challenge.
You can view all the sweeties cards on the Sugar Bowl blog.

Thanks for looking

Simply Sassy Winter Special

Happy tuesday morning everyone!

This is Kathrin here today and I am here to share a frosty card:

The image I used for this was a special stamp that was only available with the whole set of one of the Simply Sassy releases last year. But I know many of you got it so why not use it to inspire you and to make you grab it out again?

When I colored her in I had that movie in my head: Rudolf the rednosed reindeer. Not that the way this is drawn has anything to do with this geourgeous stamp but I love how they painted the snow queen's lips blue. So I decided to do the same here and also make her lips and eyes match in color.
The little pearls in her hair have been covered with silver Stickles. And I also used some silver glimmer paper on the card to bring the image and the card together.
I also loved this flourish die, that I got some time ago, for this card because I think it goes perfectly with the way the hair is drawn.
Originally I wanted her hair to be white/light grey but then I decided to go with a darker grey because this makes the blue of her eyes and lips pop.

To color the image in I used my Copics.

So, I hope you aren't shivering now from looking at my card - but if so it is the perfect excuse to get yourself a cup of coffee.
Have a wonderful day!

LEANNE ELLIS ~ PATIENCE

Morning all....

Vicky here today...and I been playing with my vintage Leanne Ellis stamps...and this beauty is called Patience..and she is simply delightful to colour..:o)

I have teamed her up with some gorgeous Bo Bunny papers matted on Kraft Card...Ooooh I so love my Kraft at the mo..and I have also made a mahooosive flower with the same card from a Spellbinders die and added a spacer and brad too..

I have coloured her with my Copics, Chalks for her cheeks and Prisma Pencils for added shading..

and I have added some texture with my Prima Leaves and twine...and the die cut is a Bird Cage from Cheery Lynn..and the punched butterflies are from my  Tonic Punch..

for more details of the products used please pop over to my blog here..

So that's all from me....thanks for stopping by....and I hope you all have a lovely day too...

SOS- Demo Day

Happy Sunday to all our sugar addicts, I hope your week went by without to much drama and you are having a relaxing weekend.

I was working in Oldmeldrum at CREATIVE yesterday, we had Kate Mellis demonstrating for Personal Impressions and I was delighted to see some regular faces and some new ones.
We arrived in Oldmeldrum on Friday night, unloaded all the new stock and displays for Saturday and it was an early start after butteries for breakfast, the door opened.

As Kate relaxed into her role as demonstrator for the day, helped by some chatty crafters, we found our what a small world crafting is. One customer was singing the praised of a lovely lady with a beautiful blog who generously sent her some candy, Oh would you know it , our very own Elaine Livesey's reputation has reached the NE of Scotland before her!
One day that motor home of hers is going to park outside our door and we are all going to faint.

Before I pulled all the display down in order to change the room back into a class room for Sunday's classes, I grabbed Katie's camera (because I cant load photos to blogger from an i pad don't you know) and took a few pic's of our samples.( yes I can say "our" because I did make a few of these too)

Not all sample's were new for today but they all are part of our seasonal promotions and demonstrations both in ELGIN and OLDMELDRUM
with  Do crafts and Personal Impressions products

Penguins in love...

Morning everyone :o)

Lisa here, with a cute little penguin couple on today's creation!

This is Warm Winter Wishes, from last year's Christmas release - isn't it just adorable?  It is, of course, available to buy from Funky Kits... I've used the rubber version which you can see here, and you can also get this one as a digi stamp here.

I've also used a sentiment from one of the fab Crafty Impressions sets, which are available from Funky Kits... so perfect for this image, and funnily enough the set is also called Warm Winter Wishes!  I didn't realise that until I went to link it up!

Thanks for popping in, I hope you all have a really lovely day :o)

Shades Of Autumn.

Good Morning :)

Well Autumn is most definitely here - the early mornings are crisp and frosty and the trees are fast losing their leaves, the nights are getting darker much earlier and it's time to light the fires.
And so it's perfectly fitting that the optional theme over on the Sugar Bowl is Autumn, whether you choose to use an image that reflects the season or the beautiful  warm and rich shades of red, brown, green, orange and gold.

This is Kim's entry into the Sugar bowl challenge, using the Simply Sassy image Retail Therapy.
The rubber stamp is out of stock but it's available to buy as a digital image HERE.
I think this a fabulous choice of stamp, she is bundled up against the cold weather in her scarf and ear muffs, and of course these colours are perfect.

The very lovely and very talented Lis chose another of my favourite stamps, Little Light Of Mine from the very first release of Sassy images.
Beautifully coloured in lighter shades but still with an Autumnal feel, and I adore the kraft rose and ribbed leaves...I need to get me a ribber thingymabob!

Another card made with Retail Therapy....
Now Coops did write on her blog that this is a card, but I would probably display it as a wall hanging.
The colours are beautifully rich and the leaves make a fabulous frame around the image.
This is certainly a very striking card indeed!

There is almost a week left to get your entry in to the Sugar Bowl challenge and be in with the chance of winning some lovely new rubber...but you know you can't win if you don't enter!

Thanks for looking.

Bunny Cuddles

Hello Everyone! Jane here today and I have dug out one of my older Sugar Nellie stamps to showcase on a card this week. The stamp I have used on my card is by Diane Duda and is called 'Bunny'. She is available at a Bargain price here from Funky Kits. I have coloured her in with my Promarkers in shades of pinks and browns and cut her out into a rectangle before distressing and sewing aroud the edges.

The papers I have used on my card are from various different My Mind's Eye pads and were in my scraps box. I added some sewing to tie all the papers together and matted them onto pink cardstock. I stamped a 'Paper Smooches' sentiment straight onto the backing papers before adding them to my card. I added a lovely bow using some pretty pink ribbon and lots of flowers and finished with a tiny wooden button and some stick on pearls.

Here is a close up of my image, I added a little touch of glitter to the bow in her hair and a little gem as the button on her dress. I coloured the bunny so she is wearing a matching dress. I hope you have enjoyed seeing one of the older Sugar Nellie stamps, there are so many ranges of gorgeous stamps to play with at Funky Kits, which range is your favourite? Please let me know in a comment on this post, I would love to know which range is your favourite and why...
Have a lovely Wednesday!

SOS - Inspired by Danielle

Good morning sugar addicts, rise and shine it's Sunday.

Traditionally a day of rest, big family lunches and maybe a visit to the house of God.

How times have changed, just a few generations later everyone does something different. I am working today, teaching an over booked class in Oldmeldrum so I will be hitting the road soon in order to be there for the doors opening and have a couple of hours checking stock and laying out the class room before I teach NOEL, our first class of the season using papier mache letters decorated for Christmas. (if your local don't forget next Saturdays demo in Oldmeldrum, we have the fantastic Kate Mellis showing us all what's what when it comes to simply stylish cardmaking)

There does not feel to be such a buzz over Christmas crafting this year, the weather is still nice here in Scotland and no sign of winter, the ranges of seasonal papers and embellishments that I like are fewer than in past years. In classes we are leaning towards showing you the many ways to use products rather than the many product you need. People are cutting back and I always believe that the more ways you can use something the more essential it becomes to your crafting tool box.

What has been your favourite paper range for this Christmas?

Inspiration, we can't get enough of it. We do our bit in the store with regular demonstrations, {thanks Jenny for your hard work on Saturday, the ladies of Elgin sure did get a few new ideas to go home and play with}

Our blog shows off the best DT around, all with amazing crafting skills that they are happy to share with you. Both the challenges on the Sugar Bowl and the Facebook group (The Official Sugar Nellie Group) are there for you to share with others. Inspiration all around us but I am a little lazy and spend most of my surfin time on Pinterest.

Over there, there are endless ideas and styles and one member that has caught my eye is Danielle Daws,
I don't know much about her other than she has an awesome collection of cards and too many boards to follow. She does love her Gorguss girls and if you have not completed your collection of these out of production stamps remember that FK has them on promotion. Danielle is leading the trend for simpler yet classy cards that I notice is taking over from the multi layer, heavily embellished cute cards. Yes girls times are a changing and so is Sugar Nellie.

We are sad that Astrid and Tiets have decided to move on, they have been an important part of our DT and Tiets especially has been with me since the very first DT, I wounder if anyone out there can even remember who was on the first DT that SN ever had?

Sugar Nellie has its 5th birthday next month, I cant believe the journey this small rubber stamp company has taken, the twist and turns, fast and slow, it has been quiet a ride. We are going to start with a massive cut of our range, after 5 years we have way too many stamps in production and we are going to discontinued many to make some room.  I am shipping a few big boxes over to Debbie and hope that her USA only web site is open for our Birthday, allowing our American sugar addicts a quicker and less costly (customs) sugar fix.

I had better move, its time to load Megan into the car and get my skates on. Hope you have a restful Sunday and maybe a little time to craft.
Take care
Karen
