SOS- Clearance Idea

Good morning crafters, I hope this morning finds you well and ready for a lovely Sunday.
It's a day off for me as I was teaching yesterday, a lovely two classes in the Elgin store where all went well and the class went home motivated to try something a little new.

As a crafter ideas are what we search for, but rarely get around to doing everything we want, time is always against us. I am just the same, if I see a product that I like, I must search for a find it. I just buy more than one at a time. If I love it, I need it, oh the addictive nature of a crafters!

I have so many idea's for samples and classes. Magazine feature too, all these things means my brain does not stop (on the down side I have no life out with crafting).
Over the years I have been lucky to be able to put some of my ideas into practice, some never see the light of day but when some one else does it I think " oh I thought of doing that but just never got around to it".

I will let you into a little secret, call it research....

I have often been green when I see the clearance sites in USA offering great deals to crafters. I remember Scenic Route made such a good job of clearing their own products that they started clearing other big paper names via their online store. Remember that?
Recently Scrapbook Steals have been offering a mixed back of One Time Only deals on bundles of matching products but even with a USA postal address, shipping kills the bargain.

Is there anything like this in the UK?
I am looking at quality, co ordinating products
not a bag of miss matched sweepings off the warehouse floor.!

GREAT DEALS

I have access to these great deals, it is a shame about UK postage cost especially with something larger and heavy, but the girls over on crafty sellers on FB have opened my eyes to other courier services which are not so expensive as the Post Office.

If all this comes together, it will be small time.
I ain't buying big numbers of something in this economic climate
it would finish me off completely if it went wrong!

You have always given me good advice, I always listen.

Tell me your thoughts while I play with other aspects that have to figure in this equation.

I may be tempted to combine this idea with another that floats around in my mind of much empty space.

MONTHLY KITS

A monthly kit with a variety of different crafts allowing you to try something that maybe you would not generally go for. Not having to buy a complete packet of something just to make a few of them saves a lot and if the box has a theme and a few ideas thrown in there I believe if its fun, value for money and quality goodies it might just stand a chance out there in the crafting world.

This is my Share On Sunday, may ideas but only one pair of hands. I hope your day sees some projects which may get finished. Remember to come on over to our FB group and share any Sugar Nellie cards that you do, we love to see you being creative.

Have a good day

Karen

Saturday Shenanigans

Happy Saturday everyone!

How are we all this fine morning?

I am a little ‘bleary eyed’ myself….I stayed up rather late last night, chatting with a friend about the 1980’s….the crazy fashions, synthetic foods and INSANE crushes

 (you know who you are)

Really….Michael Bolton???

Anyway….it got me to thinking of who I was back then….and I looked, pretty much, like this….

Yes, ladies and gentleman, I was a Goth Girl!!! Although not quite as skinny….and my skirts were never THAT short…this is the essence of me, at that time.

I could have used our Former DT Dena , who made this card, to colour my hair and make up then too!

This, in turn, starting me thinking of our range of Manga Stamps

Fun, quirky and very useful for those ‘ awkward’ teenage cards, and indeed, gifts…as demonstrated by the lovely Marianne.

Also, these are useful for the dreaded ‘man card’ as we have quite a few Manga boys to choose from….

This is Rock Idol by our Sweetie Lisa

Here, Jane has used Sporty to great effect.

And one for all the golf widows….from Dena again, this is FORE!

There are even some Christmas Manga’s if you’d like to get a head start this year?

Like little Miss Elf here from DT member Vicky

However, I am going to finish today, with my own personal favourite from the Manga range ….

Tiny Tiddler by our very own Elaine

Ain’t she a beauty?

Will you join us in colouring some lovely sugary sweet Manga stamps this weekend?

If so, please feel free to show us your creations, either, on our Facebook page and in The Sugar Bowl….there are fabulous prizes to be won!

Enjoy your weekend!

Eye Candy ♥

Good Morning Sugar Addicts :)

Yep, it's me again...but this week you can rest assured that I'll not be mentioning the weather. Maybe if I quit talking about Spring then it might actually appear!

There is just under a week left to get your entry into the Sugar Bowl challenge, if you haven't done so already. We are always grateful to those that take the time to join in with our challenge and some folks have multiple entries...you do loves your Sugar :)

It's always very difficult to choose just one entry for the Eye Candy badge...

Coops fabulous card uses the Kathy Hare image Little Bear.
I love how Nic coloured the fur on the bear, and this colour combo has got to be my favourite.
And I have a 'thing' for buttons!  Not that I use them on my cards often...oh no, I just like to look at them, lined up on a shelf in their little glass jars :)

And....since we had two cards with the same number of votes this week...

Shirley's card uses the digital image Lambing Pip.
Isn't this just the perfect Spring card? Such warm, happy colours and the fabulous Pip with her lamb.
Love it Shirley..it's a real 'feel good' card.

Please take our badge Coops and Shirley, for your blogs :)

I'll be back next week when there will be a new challenge on the Sugar Bowl.

Thanks for looking.

A Gorgeous Girl Sitting

Hello Everyone! Jane here today with a CAS card I have made using the lovely Gorgeous Girl stamp called 'Sitting' which is available here from Funky Kits. I coloured my image in with Promarkers to match the My Mind's Eye papers I used and then cut her out leaving a small border.

I stitched through all the layers of papers and stamped the Hero Arts sentiment on the middle strip.
I added a simple organza flower from my stash and a stick on pearl.

Here is a little close up of my coloured in image. She has really funky tights and I love her cute little dress. I hope you have a lovely Wednesday!

Meet "Stitch"...

Hey there my fellow "Sugar" lovers!! Pat Frank here with another fun Sugar Nellie DT project to share with you! Well...I think it's fun! And I hope you do too!!

Today's card features a stamp from the very talented UK artist, Leanne Ellis! Sugar Nellie has a whole collection of stamps made from Leanne's artwork!! And I love each and every one of them! They're a little quirky...no, wait, they're a LOT quirky!! But that's why I like them! And they're really fun and unique!! This stamp is "Stitch" and is available HERE at Funky Kits, along with many other Leanne Ellis stamps.

 Here's a close-up of little "Stitch"...

I decided to embellish the daylights out of this card! hehe! I just couldn't help it! I had this fun designer paper and tape measure ribbon and sewing embellies!! And, well, the card practically made itself!! I colored this image with Copics...which are definitely my "go to" coloring medium!

And one more, sort of "artsy" view...

I hope you had fun looking at my latest Sugar Nellie project!! If you'd like more info on this card plus a look at a couple more pics, please visit my blog HERE!!

So...that's what I've been up to!! I hope you have a great week!! Hugs....

SOS- Salutations

Salutations, was that not a word from Charlottes Web, the story of the spider and the pig?
Whatever it means, best wishes, hello, how are you , good day............salutations.

I hope your week had been pleasant, the weather played havoc this week with sand storms like never before. The farm was hit so bad that pictures reached the local press. It was so bad that the insurance company are looking at cleaning all my carpets because of the amount of sand that hit the west side of the house. You know when you start one job and it grown arms and legs, well if the carpets are clean it would be a good time to give the was some new paint and then there was to be a new wood burning stove put in the kitchen/living area, might as well put down flooring while we are at it........... yes when a little job goes BIG.

While thinking about that holiday home in Philadelphia and looking at all the nice things in the home magazines, I thought that we stay in Scotland for 11 months of the year, I would get more use out of new things here. Sitting with the Next catalogue it would be easy to do, I am just loving some of the colour schemes........

But before I get carried away in the land of dreams, there are several things to catch up with at work.
I am always working on magazine features, Creative Cardmaking and Creative Stamping along with Papercraft Essential often have Sugar Nellie features done by Kate Mellis who runs the ELGIN store ( Papercarfts Boutique) but this time its Kate MacIver who pulled out her Teressa Collins 6" pad, copics and sweet rubber to do a feature with the Bags of Fashion girls and some all time favourite Gorgeous girls.

Next step would be go get a feature in one of the USA mags but saying that, Australia has a very sweet tooth when it comes to rubber and I am unsure of what lies around the other side of the world.

There has also been a lot of new stamps from other companies arrive for FUNKYKITS but space is needed first. Look out for an email this coming week, stock needs moved about in order to make space for the new cute rubber which arrived from the USA this week AND some favourite sellers from the shop floor are heading online. We have some great sample's to share with you that have been done in the stores at demonstration days.

(Erika Gunter will be demostrating in ELGIN on MAY 4th for our far away visitors)

Next week will be a week of catch up's. Future planning and hopefully time for a little creative play.

I hope your week holds something exciting, time to yourself and a little family time in between.

Take care and catch you again.

Saturday Shenanigans

Happy Saturday Everyone!

These posts, of mine, on a Saturday morning…are like a little ramble through my brain…
(always, quite, a strange place to be)

Whatever takes my fancy I share with you, so we have a little of this and a little of that…

This week, I thought you should share in my love of Leanne Ellis!

We Stock...

Leanne’s designs are so cool and contemporary, and I just ADORE them.

I am, also, fortunate enough to have several pieces of jewellery made by the lady herself…she’s FAR TOO talented, as far as I’m concerned
 (that’ll be the jealousy talking)

Our fabulous design team are also, FAR TOO talented but, I thought you should see some of their delicious cards made using Leanne’s super sweet stamps!

Vicky has used Wild Rose to great effect, I am soooooo ‘in love’ with kraft card at the moment!

Jane has used Dreamer here, and don’t you just love the sentiment?

If Only, this elegant card by Pat would land on my doormat, I’d be as please as punch!

But Leanne also designed a range of stamps for us, featuring a cute little lady who goes by the name of Annie

One of these is called Fleur and she is the star of this card from Vicky

Elaine gave us just what we need on a Saturday morning. a nice Cup Of Tea

Anita has been Talking To The Birds. whilst making this little beauty, oh how the blossom and the birds in the trees make me think of Spring.

I really hope that seeing these beautiful projects, has gotten your creative juices flowing…

If so, please feel free to show us your creations, either, on our Facebook page and in The Sugar Bowl….there are fabulous prizes to be won!

Enjoy your weekend!

Just Saying Hello

Good morning friends!  I have another one of Sugar Nellie's sweet little fairies to share with you today.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Eye Candy ♥

Good Morning Sugar Addicts :)

I think I may have possibly spoken too soon last week when I mentioned that it appeared that Spring had at last sprung...lashing rain, blustery wind, and cold dismal days have once again returned.
I think I maybe should have kept my trap shut!

As is the norm for a Thursday post, today I am here to award the Eye Candy badge to one entrant into the Sugar Bowl challenge, and this weeks chosen card was made by...

Such a gorgeous creation, made with the stamp Angelica.

The colour combo goes together perfectly to create a real show stopper, with the prettiest of embellishments to finish it off beautifully.
Such a gorgeous card Eileen, please take our Eye Candy badge for your blog.

Thanks for looking.

SOS- USA shopping & freebie

You might have noticed that I have been MIA for a wee while, a last minute flight to USA  a week past Friday is the answer to why I have been missing.

I dropped every thing and  took a 9 am Aberdeen to Amsterdam flight, then on to Newark Airport in New York.
Take the New Jersey transit line to Trenton and change over to get to Philadelphia 30th st ( a mini central station soo pretty I only wish I had time to enjoy it but I literally ran through to get my next connection)
Rural trains stopping at every station made a slow final journey to the suburbs of Philadelphia to a station called Paoli. There, at 9pm USA time ( 2am GMT), Yipe it a the traveling that is the killer!, I was met my my son in law, Tom where we made it home to their new apartment to surprise Debbie.

First stop next day was the supermarket, because those newlyweds must be living on love alone, there was no food in the house, Mother Hubbard has more in her cupboards! They don't drink tea or coffee, Tom is gluten free so no biscuits or bakery and I was waisting away!
Wegmans may well be one of the nicest supermarkets I have been in, it reminded me on Harrods food all in more ways than one. God bless Asda and Tesco because we have it easy on the pocket when it comes to food shopping. $5 for a packet or lentils, that may be why no one make soup!

I spend a day a the King or Prussia mall where Debbie works, lots to see and every designer label you could wish for in fashion but that was not the kind of label's I was looking for.

Eventually I hit Joannes, Michael's and A C Moore. I have seen a lot of changes over the years in the American craft shops. Papercrafting is out, not much at all, Cricut is still there but stamping is disappearing. 12" paper racks are still there but much fewer that there used to be.
A C Moore surprised me in being better every day prices than Michaels, maybe M's have so much discount coupons that they have to price the good higher to start with.
Joannes for fabric and beads. A lot of flannel over there, maybe pj's and bed sheets are the things to sew.

I cant say that I was blown away with anything, maybe I go to often because I find myself saying, "got that last time".
So what did I come back with.......
Cricut embossing folders (the UK has been without a decent wholesaler distributor for Provocraft/Cricut for a good few years now)
Some $1 stamp sets, $1 bead strings and one roll or ribbon.
A couple of ribbon holders to tidy up my craft space.
2 Martha Stewart cutting templates to make Christmas ornaments for classes with the most lethal cutting blade, ouch!
Burlap and lace, yes this defiantly took up most of my one 50Lbs case home. Not sure what I am doing with it yet but Kate is working towards her daughters wedding and this theme it so trendy.

No new dies, nothing new, the large stores do not have the latest things as quick as we get at home, those you should find in you local independent store if there is any still open because there is no way I would want to trade next to a BIG craft shop.

If you know of any independent stores around Pheonixville/King of Prussia, drop me a line because I need new hunting ground for my next trip over and I will go out of my way to support the small shops.

Oh and that corneal ulcer I was diagnosed with hours before I flew, has been checked on return and referred to the hospital department, fingers crossed for that one.

Back to work on Monday, I'll open the doors to FUNKYKITS and catch up with all orders there.
Working on magazine features for the British mags, have you noticed Sugar Nellie in any that you read?

Looking at internet promotions with rubber stamp ranges that you have all loved but maybe lost. I'll be bring some of those back to you in either rubber or digital.

New digital stamps that you have not seen before!

And finally for today because I feel that I have neglected you somewhat as I have run around the world like a head less chicken as usual. A freebie just for you.

When I say just for you, I do mean it, please don't spoil this for others but miss use of this image. It is free and please don't "bite the hand that feeds you". Download it on to your home computer and keep it there, don't upload on to any sharing site, Pinterest, tumbler or FB groups. This image is supplied to you under the same terms of use as any paid for Sugar Nellie digital image sold on Funkykits. I collection this images and downloading it on to your computer you are legally accepting to abide by these TOU.

OPPS sorry you missed it

This cute fairy is a digi stamp from artist Diane Duda, find more like these and her adorable boy digital stamps over HERE
or just have a browse at all our digi stamps available for instant download from your account once paid for.

That's my treat for you today, have a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing your cards with this image on the FaceBook challenge page or the SUGAR BOWL challenge blog.
both of these give away free rubber stamps, and if you are new to Sugar Nellie you now have an image to play with, no excuses now!

take care

Saturday Shenanigans

Happy Saturday everyone!

How are we all this fine Saturday morning?

I have a little spring in my step this morning, as it’s only two days until the little cherubs return to school after the Easter break, here in my part of the world!

I do love them but, honestly, personal space is a great thing! lol

Anyhoo….whilst the little angels are tucked up in bed at night, I tend to spend my time trawling the internet for anything that can make my crafting a little easier or more enjoyable.

Judging by the feedback I received after last weeks ‘tutorials post’ it’s something that you all like to do too…

Some people, last week, had mentioned my lack of ‘pens’ and I feel I owe this an explanation.

When ‘Copics’ were becoming  ‘all the rage’, about four years ago, I splashed out and bought a full set of Ciaos.

(if I do something, I like to do it properly, lol)

This, as you can imagine, was an extremely expensive foray into the world of markers and unfortunately, one I would prefer to forget.

I couldn’t use them, AT ALL….we just didn’t get along…..we were incompatible!

Now, on reflection, it may have been that I didn’t have the time to learn how to use them properly. (This is most likely the case, as everyone else seems to get along brilliantly with them)

However, some of my favourite ‘colourists’ use Copics, and other marker pens to the most stunning effect….and I am severely jealous of their talent.

There are loads of Copic tutorials all over the internet and this has to be one of my favourites….using our very own Rosie also available as a digi, so if you fancy trying this stunning ombre technique you can do it straight away…

Amy has provided a series of tutorials making this card from start to finish…..so have a good look through her You Tube channel, you’re sure to find something to inspire you.

One of the things I really admire about the crafters who colour using markers, is the hair….and this is a great tutorial by lovely Lis Murphy using Spectrum Noir pens!

And, this is my favourite tutorial, so far, for colouring red hair….by Kimberly
(I’m a redhead, and very biased. lol)

Again, she has a great selection of tutorials using Promakers  so her channel is well worth a look too!

Well, there we have my selection of tutorials for the pen lovers amongst you….and, if you need an instant hit of sugar to colour in this weekend, take a wander around the
….you’re sure to find something to make you pick up those markers and get colouring!

If so, please feel free to show us your creations, either, on our Facebook page and in The Sugar Bowl….there are fabulous prizes to be won!

Enjoy your weekend!

Eye Candy ♥

Good Morning Sugar Addicts :)

It definitely feels like Spring has sprung..at long last, and not before time! Although it's still chilly outside, the days have been dry, bright and sunny and it lifts my spirits so much.

So...today's post is to award the Eye Candy badge to our chosen entry into the Sugar Bowl challenge.
Again, it was a difficult decision and we struggled to choose just one...it's so heart warming to see all the gorgeous cards ♥

And so, this weeks Eye Candy badge is awarded to...

...the lovely Lis who created her totally delicious card using the image Fairy cakes.
I know Karen will adore this card, after all...Karen is partial to a wee bit 'o cake :)

The super sweet image is beautifully coloured in the prettiest of shades, a fab layout and exactly the perfect balance and choice of embellishments.
Love it Lis ♥

Please take our badge Lis and display it with pride.

I'll be back again, same time next week with another Eye Candy, so get your entries in.

Thanks for looking

Peace Angel

Hello Everyone! Jane here today and I have a card to share with you today which I made using one the beautiful Diane Duda stamps which are available from Funky Kits. This image is called Peace Angel and you can buy her here. I first stamped my image onto some of the gridded Gorjuss Girls paper and then onto white card. I coloured the image with my Promarkers and added some glitter glue to the Angel's wings and halo.

I added some ribbon and a little crochet flower I bought from a lovely little craft shop in Greenwich and also added a pearl swirl and a wooden heart button.

Here is a close up of my coloured image. I love the sweet little bird she is holding. She looks so serene and peaceful and is perfect for those hard to make Sympathy or Thinking of You cards. I hope you have a lovely Wednesday.

Posy Pip and her Sunflower

Welcome, sugar lovers!! Don't you just LOVE Mondays? I know I do! Especially when it's MY Monday here at Sugar Nellie's! hehe!! Pat Frank here once again (I'm kinda like a bad penny that just keeps showing up, huh?! hehehe!)! And, as luck would have it, I have a new Sugar Nellie DT project!

Today's card features "Posy Pip" from Sugar Nellie's "Home Grown - Sherbet Pips" Collection. I fell in love with these little "Pips" when they first came out! And now, in addition to "Sherbet Pip" rubber stamps, Funky Kits is also carrying several Sherbet Pips as digital images!! And I do SO love the instant gratification that comes with purchasing digi images! Let's just say that "Patience" is NOT my middle name! hehe! This little Posy Pip is available HERE at Funky Kits.

 Here's a close-up...

As a change of pace, I kept this card pretty simple...and by that I mean I used far fewer embellishments than I normally do! I just wanted little "Posy Pip" to be the absolute center of attention!!

And one more view...

I hope my "sunshine-y" sunflower card brought a smile to your face! If you'd like more info on this card plus a look at a couple more pics, please pop on over to my blog HERE!!

And, that's it for me! Sending sunshine-filled hugs your way....

Saturday Shenanigans

Good Morning Everyone!

Well, the sun is finally shining in my little part of the world!

Doesn’t it,always, just make you feel better?

I have just returned from a few days, spent at the beach, with the family…

We managed to have the most fabulous weather, a little chilly but, gorgeous clear blue skies and lots of fresh air, it surely does blow the cobwebs away!

Of course, today, I must climb the laundry mountain! (boo, hiss)

But, whilst I was away, I got to thinking of the lovely Sugar Nellie rubber, that I really have to blow the cobwebs off.

I have so many little rubber babies, and have had so little time to play with them just lately, as things with my family have been a little hectic.

Feeling a little more energised than I have of late,  I have been trying to improve my colouring techniques using online tutorials.

My favourite colouring medium, of late, has been using Distress Inks ( I like using a paintbrush) and these have been a learning process….finding the right paper to use, the best brushes and then the technique itself but, my favourite technique video has to be this one from Annie Rose

Next on my ‘things to do’ list is releasing the full potential of my Prismacolour pencils, again, there are so many different things to get right first, the paper, which pencils, which blending mediums etc….

But, whilst on my ‘travels through blogland’ I came across this tutorial from the lovely Dorcas.

Dorcas has become my Prismacolor guru…..she has LOADS of tutorials on her blog.

My mission for today has become to follow the ‘Colouring Steel on Kraft’ tutorial, which just looks amazing to me!

So, I hope I have inspired you to drag out your colouring mediums and get crafting?

If so, please feel free to show us your creations, either, on our Facebook page and in The Sugar Bowl….there’s fabulous prizes to be won!

Enjoy your weekend…..

Wishes of a Happy Birthday

Happy Friday to all of you sugar addicts!  I am sharing a card today using one of my all-time favorite Sugar Nellie images ...

I love the Home Grown Sherbet Pips!  I think they're adorable and they always bring a smile to my face.  I colored Cherry Pip with copics and colored pencils, using one of my very favorite color combinations.  I have used some of my new papers by Carta Bella and added a leafy flourish die.  I used my punch for the little flowers and then added a drop of Liquid Pearls in the center of each one.  A cute little bow, a corner die, and the sentiment finished my card.  You can find Cherry and all the other sweet Sherbet Pips over at Funky Kits.

Thank you for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend and find some time to get your fingers inky!

Hugs, Anita

As Sweet As Can Be ♥

Good Morning Sugar Addicts :)

Today we have a new challenge over on the Sugar Bowl, and as always, the Sweeties have created a fabulous array of cards to provide you with a little inspiration.

The theme is 'Anything Goes' and the one simple rule is that you must use a Sugar Nellie image, and with the challenge running for a full 4 weeks, you'll have plenty of time to play along :)

Pami's super sweet card is made with the cutest fairy Lil' Sweetpea.

Kiki had used the stamp Peek-a-boo in the prettiest of Spring colours.

And Fiona created her very stylish card with the stamp Belle Flower.

I hope you'll put a little time aside and join in with the fun :)

Thanks for looking.
