Wishing us ALL a FABULOUS New Year!

Happy Monday, all you sugar lovers!! Happy New Year's Eve!!
Pat Frank here with another new Sugar Nellie DT card! And a little "hint" at Sugar Nellie's newest digi stamps...which will be showcased in a Blog Hop this coming Saturday, January 5th!!
More on that in a minute...
First, I have a sweet little card to share with you....

Today's card features a precious digi image named "Melissa"... from the "Simply Adorable" collection of Sugar Nellie stamps. You can find this image HERE at Funky Kits. "Melissa" is just one of many "Simply Adorable" digi images available at Funky Kits...and, you just never know when more will be added!! (That might be a hint of things to come in the new year!!)

I'm embarrassed to admit that I've had this digi image for well over a year...and this is my very first time coloring her! As my mother would say, "For shame, for shame!" hehe!! Isn't little "Melissa" just a brilliant piece of artwork? And, believe me when I say, she was an absolute joy to color. In fact, because the artist has provided shading in the appropriate places, the only thing I had to think about was which colors to use! You see? Easy peasy!! Here's a close-up...

For a change of pace, I decided to color this image with my Faber-Castell and Caran d'Ache colored pencils. I honestly can't tell you the colors I used...because I used so many and simply lost track. I can tell you that I layered and layered....especially her hair...with different shades from the same color family!
Here's another view...

Now...if you'd like more info on how I made this particular card...as well as a peek at a few more pics,
please pop on over to my blog HERE!!

Oh...and don't forget...

Mark your calendars for...
The "Vintage Adorables" Blog Hop...
Saturday, January 5, 2013
11:00 A.M. GMT

And...as always...there will be PRIZES!!

And, that's it from me! Have a safe and fun last day of 2012...and I'll see you all again in 2013!
Happy New Year!
Hugs...

SOS- warm and cozy

Staying warm and cozy with a cup of hot coffee.
There is a storm coming in and I have already been called out to the farm yard
to help get a cow and calf back inside after escaping while the fold door was open.

My head is thumping and I feel that the activities of the last week are catching up on me.
I have two sickly kiddies asleep on the sofa, best not disturb them,
they are warm and cosy with the fire and heating on.
This time next week we will all be back to normal, well as normal as it can be.
I hope that you are all safe , warm and well fed.

It has been very wet here in Scotland, its waders you need not wellies.
No frost or snow to talk about but just very wet underfoot.

Lambing has started early this year, I am sure that we have never seen lambs arrive in December. The children are excited as lambing is a big deal, got to check the sheep on a regular basis to make sure no one needs help, bring inside anything that is struggling out there and watch out for potential pet lambs. We are so fortunate with the weather because many time's the little lambs have dropped into this world during a cold blizzard of snow, does not help the survival rate at all.

Both stores are closed until next Thursday, plan are going on for things happening this spring. Demonstrations and classes with a wider variety of crafts.

I have been watching Kristie's Vintage Home and handmade Christmas, some days its on back to back on the TV so I think I have seen them all now. I am loving the vintage look, so pretty and not necessarily new. Keep your eyes open, because if I love it, I will want to share with you too. DO we have any space in our stores for a little vintage makeover?

I am still picking up ideas on Pinterest, mostly non card making but still crafting, a little felting and some wire works too, I am trying to say away from the baking as it looks like my blood sugars are not good, either is my iron and goodness knows what else they will find when they start poking about. I expect they will tell me I am over weight on top of everything else!

******************
Watch out this week for some  ABORABLE sneeky peaks from the Design Team, we have new digital stamps coming out next weekend.

These come from the same artist as the ADORABLE's and are designed to make colouring in a breeze.
Don't worry if you have trouble shading, its all done for you and these vintage beauties are a must for any lover of the sweet stuff.

Until then, stay warm and safe.
hugs
Karen

PS thanks to Cassie @ tinywhitedaisies for all her beautiful collection of photos.

Hazel and Nutty

Good morning sweet friends.  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and got lots of goodies from Santa.  I've been making Christmas cards for so long now that it felt strange to make a different type of card lol!

This card features Hazel and Nutty and it appears that it is temporarily out of stock over at Funky Kits.  I'm sure Karen will have it restocked shortly, or if you prefer digis, you can find it here.  I used copics and colored pencils to color this beautiful fairy and her little friend.  Then I added lots of Glamour Dust because I always love to have my fairies sparkle.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Hugs, Anita

Warm winter wishes

Good morning everyone :o)

Oh, how I wish I could say this is my last Christmas card, but I still have a few to go... oh dear, really must be more organised next year!

I've used those gorgeous cuddly penguins again, on a large 8" square card - the stamp is currently out of stock, but they're also available as a digi stamp here.  This card is for my lovely mum and her hubby, I just need to add a sentiment as I seem to have missed that bit!

Well, this is my last post on here until after Christmas, so I hope you all have a fabulous time and I'll see you in the New Year :o)

Hugs, Lisa x

Too Much Excitement??

Well the days are whizzing by faster than the speed of light and there are now only 5 sleeps left until Santa arrives...but I think I'm pretty much ready for the big day now.
All the cards are written and have been posted.
All the gifts are bought, wrapped and the ones that needed to be posted have been sent and most of them received too. The decorations are all in place, my halo has been polished, and now I think the only thing still left to get through is the grocery shopping. Not bad for someone that's always on the last minute!

Once I've finished work on Monday then I can start to unwind...a few bottles of fizz will help me along...and get into the excitement of the Season.

So...can you take any more excitement?
Want a little sneaky peak of something sweet?
OK, OK....I'll be Santa and deliver you a little treat to whet your appetites...

How adorable is this little Adorable?

She is most definitely sweet and she will be coming out to play with her 5 other friends!
What a lovely start to the New Year :)

See...aren't I nice to you all :)

I'll not be back here until after Christmas, so I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the lovely Sugar Addicts a very Happy Christmas. I hope Santa will be kind to you and bring you all lots of lovely gifts.

Big Hugs

A Christmassy Puss in Boots

Good Morning Everyone! Jane here today. Are you ready for Christmas yet? Are you still making Christmas cards or have you finished and the last one has been sent? I have one more card to make. I feel like I have been making Christmas cards for ever!

I have a Christmas card to share with you today which I made using the adorable 'Puss In Boots' stamp which is usually available here from Funky Kits. It is out of stock at the moment but there are loads more gorgeous Christmassy stamps here. I coloured my image in with Promarkers and then die cut it into a circle.

The gorgeous papers I have used are by Simple Stories. I love the patchwork effect paper. I added a fishtail banner and lots of sewing around the edges and also added lots of flowers from my stash. The sentiment is a Melissa Frances Rub on and I finished by adding a spotty button and some stick on gems. I hope you have a lovely Christmas and I will see you back on the blog in the New Year!

SOS- The final Countdown

The final Countdown, who sang that song? I can hear it in my head, volume up high, was it Europe?

One week to go, well that would be the deadline for pressies, food would have to be done the week of Christmas. There are usually Turkeys in the supermarkets on Christmas eve, all marked down because the shops closed for one day and best before dates are rubbish and never long enough these days.

I have not made up my mind where Christmas dinner will be this year, we are invited out but I would love to curl up at home and chill but then again if we go out there is no cooking or much cleaning to be done?

Pressies, we'll I have done nothing much so far for a reason, if the children are going to get BIG pressies in the form of electrical phone/Internet devices then they are not getting all the add on junk that I usually buy to make their pressie pile look huge. At 13 and 10 I don't think there is much magic left and with a house full of 'junk' I don't kneed anymore. History has shown me that I need only buy what they ask for, if I get a bright idea of something that they might love, I am usually wrong and its just a waste of money.

I also hate buying something and finding marked down in the sales the next week, there is no way around this but I have a feeling that the sale's have started early because the shops are finding it hard to get us to part with our pennies this year. Retail has suffered this year and I predict that if many store do not make it good this season we will see a lot of shops closing in the spring, the bigger they are the harder they fall.

It's a quiet month for us in the House of Sugar, it always is, 10+ years of experience in the craft trade has shown me the ups and downs of the monthly seasons. Both stores are closed between Christmas and New Year and we will be open on the 3rd January.

Funkykits will still be taking orders 24/7 but packing and dispatching will be done as and when.

This week's jobs are packing up all the candy we gave away, did you win? Have you claimed it? Gayle will email me the winners this week and I will send those our along with Facebook challenge winnings and any Sugar Bowl challenge winners too. With all that candy leaving the building we will be having a tidy up for the New Year and getting ready for our new launch in January.

All I can tell you for now is that these 6 new images are adorable and you are going to want these little beauties to keep your colouring skillls on trend. ;)

take care

Karen

Best Friends

Hello sweet friends.  I have have this adorable image for a while now and decided to take a break from Christmas cards and color this cutie.

This sweet boy and his bear are called Worried.  He's by Kathy Hare Designs and you can find him over at Funky Kits.  I colored him with copics and colored pencils and then cut him out with my circle Nestabilities.  I always struggle with embellishments for male cards so I decided to go with the clean and simple look.  I only added a few buttons tied with cording and a diecut in the corner.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Hugs, Anita

Just 12 Sleeps Left!!

Good Morning :)
Time is whizzing by so fast! Just 12 sleeps to go until Christmas is here.
 Are you all excited yet?
Have you bought all the gifts?
Have you made your Christmas cards?

If you are cutting it fine and still creating your own, unique and fabulous cards for the season then blogland is an amazing place to search for inspiration and new ideas.

There is a new challenge today over on the Sugar Bowl where the very apt theme is 'Let it snow'.

The sketch has been done by the very lovely Fiona and her beautiful card uses the stamp Titania.
I adore these fairies, and the frosty blue colour scheme is perfect.

Pami's card is fabulous in shades of blue and kraft, and of course here is another of my favourite fairies...
Wish  Upon A Star (sorry but this popular little lady is out of stock at the moment)

Erika is definitely on trend with one of the most recent digi images Gingerbread Cookies and the colour scheme of kraft/red/white (see Karen's post here) a classic colour combo.
And the colours I've also chosen for this years Christmas wrapping.
I just knew I had excellent taste ha!

I know everyone is so busy at this time of year but I hope you still have some time to relax and maybe get a little inky.

Thanks for looking
Love Elaine xx

SOS - all wrapped up

kraft and yellow

mini alphabet stamps

rag roses

Oh doilies

anything goes with Kraft, good plain on parcel wrap.

Kraft has played a bit part this Christmas season in the House of Sugar.
Kraft, red and white were my chosen colours way back in the summer and with the
Home for the Holidays range from Do crafts setting the scene, we were off.

I will be reluctant to move on to another colour scheme but spring in on my mind and I have
several magazine features to put together with the help of talented cardmakers.

SO what do you think,
is pastel going to make a come back?
or will teal and duck egg blue still be popular next year?

I dont have a lot to wrap at home this year, but at work I have a good few goodie bags to make up
for our lucky winners of candy this past week.
and if you win,Do not open until 25th!

Karen

Bella Bunting

Good morning everyone :o)

I should definitely have had a Christmas card for today's post, but I had an overwhelming urge to play with Bella Bunting... I didn't try very hard to resist!

The colours are quite Christmassy though aren't they... so the thought was sort of there!

Ooh, and don't forget to leave comments on this week's posts - there are some fab gift bags of candy to be won, and you might be one of the lucky ones.  Good luck!

Hope you all have a lovely day :o)

A sweet rabbit and some Candy!

Hello Everyone! Jane here today and I am sharing a card I made with the adorable Little Cotton Rabbits 'Albie' stamp. I have coloured him in with my Promarkers and have given him a little pink jumper to match these gorgeous Tilda papers.

I layered the papers on to kraft card and added some stitching around the edges before adding the layers to the card after I had wrapped them with some gorgeous velvet ribbon. I added lots of pretty flowers and some stick on pearls and a sentiment I stamped onto kraft.

Here is a close up of my image, Albie is a boy rabbit but I think he looks really cute in pink. I cut him out leaving a small border and then popped him on to my card with foam pads. I finished with some little stick on pearls. It was a nice change to make something other than a Christmas card too!
Talking of Christmas and treats....

Make sure you stop by every day this week for your chance to win some Sugar Nellie Candy! One person will be selected at random from the comments left here on the Sugar Nellie blog - to win a gift bag! Good Luck and we look forward to to reading your comments!
