Away with the Fairies...

Hi Peeps...

Christine here today, and I'm back in the land of the fairies (YES...ok, enough with the 'away with them more like' thoughts!)...  And today I've used one of the super new Scrapberry Fairies from Sugar Nellie... this one is Fairy Birthday and is available HERE from Funky Kits

As she's quite a large stamp, I decided to go with a CAS style...  to be quite honest, I couldn't fit much else on!  I've seen a lot of the purple/blue colourway around lately - so I thought I'd give that a go too...  I think I like!

There isn't much for me to explain about the card - I used my Copics, and then doodled around the edge with a fine liner.  Then I used lots of Stickles and Glitter - which looks so much better in real life......  ah well...  oooh, and a couple of little punched vellum butterflies too!

I used the little sentiment that comes with this fairy stamp...  and unusually for me, stamped it after I'd coloured the image......  YIKES..... but it worked!

Hope you all have a lovely day today...

Big hugs and Happy Crafting..

SOS Saturday goings on

Hello stampers, hope you week has been enjoyable. The weather is absolutely fantastic here in Scotland and we are all taking full advantage of it.
Saturday seen me thankfull that the shop in Oldmeldrum is on the cool side down stairs. It was once a brewery and very much like a stone cave inside. It made teaching far more plesent than the up stair class room which was like a sauna. I had a lovely calm class with our favourite customers, good day!

These two are such a hoot, Margaret and Connie, lovely ladies who are so very loyal and supportive to Katie. I believe they are to be her bridesmaids one day!

While I was teaching in Aberdeenshire, the rest of my family were attending an agricultural show in the other direction. Nairn Show was the first even that my 15 year old son James competed in the catle section. He's has been traing, washing, booming and spending every night for such a long time with Dutchess his calf. Stress levels were up, long hours, an early start and just the all round buzz ment both James and Dutchess where exhausted by the time the came home with 4th place.

It's a great learning experience for our young farmer, who has decided not to stay on at school next year. With a life time of farming in front of him, he's off to a good start. He is more interested in the animal side of the farm but is coming around more to machinery and crops.

It will be a few years before he can take over from his father, we would like for him to go else where for a couple of years and see farming from another prospective , be employed and learn more before coming home. By then, maybe those grandchildren of ours will have made an appearance and we can retire leaving the farm to James. That's the plan.

Hope all your plans work out this coming week.
Take care and see you for the blog hop and new release of Furry Friends next weekend.

Trip to the Park

Good morning Sugar Friend
Without further ado here's my card for this week.  This cute stamp is an oldie but a goodie called 'Trip To the Park' and is still available from Funkykits -  in both rubber and digital format.

I decided to go for a CAS card this week, but I wanted a tent fold card in a coloured cardstock so created the card base myself.  The zig-zag cut out was made using my Silhouette Cameo, but I know that there are dies and border punches out there that will give you the same effect. I coloured the cute image with Promarkers, Flexmarkers and Copics, then fussy cut her out and raised her up onto the zig-zag card. To finish I added a little glitters and some flowers.
For more info of all the things I've used to make my card, why not visit my blog here.

See you in 2 weeks.

SOS Dressing up dollies

Maybe not dollies but defiantly rabbits!

Kate and myself had fun playing dress up with the knitted bunnies which Janice knitted for me.

This is what we ended up with....

Lots and lots of tulle , just like the one made for little girls, no sewing required!

Needless to say I don't have enough colours of tulle and need more! But for now at lease three bunnies are no longer naked. Lots more to do.

Hi Sugar Lovers

The gorgeous papers are from Maja Design - Coffee in the Arbour... and they do tend to lead to a vintage style card.  More details are on my blog HERE.

SOS- new release coming soon.

Hello stampers, what another beautiful day here in Scotland, I hope the sun is shining where you are.
But then again if it's a great day outside why stay in and craft?

Thank you all for your feedback on Paws or Claws. The good news is that the choice is not clear, maybe cats have the lead. So we have chatted about it and Furry Friends will be a mix of all things furry, that way new characters can be introduced to you along the way.

This collection is coming, for now, in two parts. Part one will be with you at the end of the month.
Part 2 the next month. It's a new range for us and unlike the past few artist, these are super simple to colour. Anyone running out of crafting time? These cuties will suit you. Still adorable images but as they are all animals. Only fur colours required!

Some of the DT have already made up the samples for our blog hop, I am super excited to bring this collection to you, totally digital for the benefit of our overseas customers and those with little patience to wait for the post, space to hide your supplies and disastrous with an ink pad.  Which one are you?

(A reminder that digital images are self collect within 7 days by you from your account @ funkykits after purchase, we do not email you anything.)
Yes these images will be on a special release price for the weekend they come out, I am giving you warning that this offer will not available after wards even if you email telling me you did not know. I will be sending out a news letter too., shouting it from the roof tops and writing it in the sand.

Our characters have been named. So far we have Brodie the bear, Brambles the dog and Jelly the cat.
Thank you all for your suggestions, we have a couple of other animals to name yet.

With it being Sunday, husband and I will be heading out for breakfast, third week on the trot. It will not last for much longer as it's harvest soon, the farmer will be too busy to stop to eat.
BBQ's all over in this lovely weather, why not, we don't always see the sun in this part of the world. I am still working on getting a patio, the man is half way there, slabs arrive next week but all the prep has been completed and husband has even tidied up the other side of the house. Only one more corner of weeds to get rid off and I'll be happy.....for now.

Have a great weekend, remember to join us at the end of the month, don't miss out!
Karen

Our Summer ---

Good morning sugary friends, Janine here today.

It's Thursday and my turn to share a card with you. This week I'm sharing another of the gorgeous Scrapberry stamps, they're all available to buy from Funkykits

The cutie twosome stamp I've used today is called 'Our Summer'.

This week I decided to use my distressing inks and pens to colour the stamp, and they worked beautifully. I wanted a CAS look to my card so I kept my embellishments to a minimum. To create my card I used a corner punch, 2 MFT dies and my Silhouette machine and of course a splash of glitter.

For more info of the things I've used why not visit my blog here.

Thanks so much for dropping by. Christine's will be here next Thursday so I'll see you in 2 weeks.

Flower Girl...

Good morning sugar fans, it's Fi here with your Wednesday post!!

So this morning I thought I would give some gorjussness....although we have lots of new rubber out, we still need to remember those old stamps too, we can't forget about them now can we??

This stamp is Flower Girl which is one of my very first and favourite Sugar Nellie stamps from the Gorjuss collection at Funky Kits.

I coloured this little cutie with spectrum noirs, the papers are from My Mind's Eye - Oxford Lane, which I forgot I had. I used my spellbinders curved borders die to make the scalloped edging....oh that was tricky and as if I have all the time in the world just now, there is a knack to it but I got there in the end.  I layered my gorjuss girl onto a die cut circle and I free cut the scalloped circle to layer the image onto. I finished with some teeny weeny butterflies....hope you likey?

Pop back tomorrow for another wee SN post!!

Paws or claws

Hello readers , I have a little question for you. Which way would you vote, for paws or claws ?

We are putting together our next release, completely new to Sugar Nellie.

But which animal do you love the most, dogs or cats.

The answer to this question will greatly influence our next set of stamps.

How do you all feel about animal themed stamps? We have had soft centres for a good few years and you may already own Custard the cow or Dougal the dog. Those early stamps have a fan base all of their own.

The next set will all be digital, I think you will understand when you see them. We are going to extend your skills with digital stamps. I am pushy, but you'll love it.

So just let me know what animal is your favourite and if you have a pet, what's its name. I am really looking for cross gender names, something that does both males and females. Share with me and you never know, we may name our characters after your pet!

Hope that little sweetener makes up for my rant 😉
Sneaky weekends coming up!

Karen

Step away from the keyboard

Multiple tasking, yup that's me. As little bit of everything, too many balls in the air at one time, as the saying goes. jack of all trades, master of none!
Funkykits, Sugar Nellie, Papercrafts and Creative are where I work. I have no set hours unless I am minding the store or teaching a class. I give Monday and Friday over to Funkykits, sometimes the days In between I will post out orders too. Being slightly dyslexic ( at my age this did not exist in school) writing is not my strong point. Emails are like the chore you put last in the day. I am coping much better now that we changed the address and got rid of 1000 of junk emails every week, yes I kid you not it was migraine stuff.
But please please try not to send me multiple emails asking the very same question. I under stand your frustration at wanting an answer to your question but I am not there 24/7. If I open the mail box and see your name over and over again it does not make me want to open yours first.

I will answer you the best I can unless
It's not in English
you ask something that has since expired,
your offering something I did not ask for
or if you are just plain rude.

Those I deleat in order to get on with the letters that do deserve and require an answer. Trust me girls, if I could answer some emails the way they were written , with "witty sarcastic humour" it might make my day! But no, I have to be a "good shop keeper" and it's a lot harder than it looks!

Little rant over!
Crabby Karen

Creativeness

Good morning sugar fans, Fi here with the Saturday post!  I hope the sun is still shining wherever you are!!

Now this stamp is one of the fabby new stamps from the Scrapberry's range at Funky Kits...she's called Creativeness and is really, really pretty!!

I couldn't decode which stamp to use and then I discoverd these papers in my stash and well the rest is hostory....lol!!

So I couloured the stamp with spectrum noirs and did a spot of shading with polychromos.  The papers are MME Lost and Found (I think) which I layered onto bazzill card.  I added some pearls to the corners as I thought it needed something in the corners.  The flower and ribbon are just perfect summery colours so thought they went quite well too...oh and did you spot that tiny guitar charm...now how cute is that??

Pop back tomorrow for another wee SN post!!

What's up?

Hello lovely sugar addicts, I am just standing in for Fiona today and you will catch up with her on Saturday instead.

Now the rush for the new Scrapberry stamps has peeked, I am back on the hunt for new artwork.

I have zero patience and waiting months for new stamps designs is killing me and Sugar Nellie. So I took the bull by the horns (as only a farmers wife can) and went out with my comfort zone. I have a new collection coming soon and wait for it, the clue is in the title.

FURRY FRIENDS

No prizes for guessing. But so far the DT are loving the art. These will be digital for now, maybe in the future our partnerships will see them as clear stamps but that is something to be worked out.

Toppers from Hobby House will be with you this summer some time. I am really excited to see what Jill's team make with these. Something to look forward too, and we will also be using Sugar Nellie toppers in our classes too.

So although it's been quiet this year so far, it looks like everything will come at once again. I am hopeless and time management. But this first part of the year had other personal things going on.
This summer gives me time to catch up , schools are out for us on Friday and my hours at work are cut to the minimum while I have children at home.

It's been a lovely few days here, but I have a list of things to do today, best get a wriggle on.
Take care
Karen
